Gun laws are a big controversial topic in America, so starting off I feel like there are a lot of school, mall, or just regular shootings in general in America. Like I feel like we are seeing a new shooting every other week, And sometimes twice a week. But I don't think that changing the gun laws will change anything at all and here's why.
Making stricter gun laws and having it harder to buy guns will not do very much. A lot of the guns that are used to shoot places up are illegal or have illegal attachments so if we strengthen gun laws even to the point like Australia, People in America will find ways to get their hands on firearms, And if not they will just use a regular hunting or training weapon like the one used in Australia to kill 7
...g, that could have raised questions about policy changes. Even know a policy change hasn't happened yet, I do think that eventually we will have new policies on guns. The focus of the policies may not be directly related to schools, but i think they will help prevent other shootings. I think policies will focus on the process of buying guns and permits that go along with owning guns. With these policies going into effect, I think they can help prevent other shootings like the one at Sandy Hook Elementary from happening again.
Some people believe that extremely tight gun control laws will eliminate crime, but gun control laws only prevent the 'good guys' from obtaining firearms. Criminals will always have ways of getting weapons, whether it be from the black market, cross borders, or illegal street sales. New gun control laws will not stop them. Since the shootings of Columbine High School, Virginia Tech, and Sandy Hook, the frequency of mass shootings has increased greatly. Gun control is not effective as it has not been shown to actually reduce the number of gun-related crimes. Instead of considering a ban of private firearm possession, and violating individual ownership rights, it may be more practical to consider the option of partially restricting firearm access.
In conclusion, enabling stricter gun control laws will help to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill, criminals, and children and teens. With these laws put into place there will be more assurance of the safety of American citizens. It is not necessary to strip citizens of their right to own a gun, but we should be able to make it harder to get guns. If you are someone with a clear record and using a gun for recreation use, you will have no trouble obtaining a gun. In the long run increase the laws on gun control hurts nobody. Despite historic events where governments seized firearms and killed millions of citizens, today we have a different problem, which is making sure guns are in the right hands.
Stricter gun laws simply will not work because the law-abiding citizens will be the only ones to follow the rules. When it comes to violence, the stricter gun laws will only help the criminals hurt more innocent people. The reason that I believe this is because during the Prohibition years in the United States people were still able to find alcohol and the government could not do anything about it. Then drugs became a huge problem and the government still has yet to find a way to stop all drugs from reaching consumers. This same exact thing will happen with guns. Gun violence in the United States is higher than ever, and criminals with guns will “…kill as many as 1000 people each day” (Alpers&Wilson). Taking this into perspective, it is only right to fight fire with fire or, in this case, use a gun to protect yourself and those around you. Gun control does not only decrease the ability for protection, it also decreases our rights as U.S citizens. The constitution clearly states that we are given the right to bear arms, meaning we may carry fire arms. Even if we have stricter laws for guns, it will not stop killers from shooting innocent people. These men and women causing damage to the lives of numerous individuals do not care if there is a law banning guns, because all they truly want to do is hurt others. The pain citizens endure every day from losing a family member, friend, or even just a colleague is repulsive. These permanent deaths continue to make people fearful and it causes damage in their lives; unless something is done. Most people agree that action needs to be taken to stop this inhumane cruelty, but the question is; what can be done? Americans need protection, rights, and power to break this inexcusable gun violence circling America. Gun restrictions for trustworthy and reliable gun owners have not been proven to weaken gun violence in the United States; therefore, gun control should be limited because it is only hurting America, not helping it.

There are gun control laws to try and reduce the number of violent shootings that occur. They are trying to put limits on weapons that Americans can own. The government is trying to take our guns away mainly because of people that are criminally insane. Most of the people who commit crimes don’t even have the weapons legally. If the government takes away the rights of people who are allowed to have firearms in their possession, it will most definitely cause an outrage. Most people believe that the people should be more capable of maintain proper use of the firearms instead of having them all taken away. Taking the firearms from Americans away would cause a lot more problems than there actually are. The people will be upset with the government taking firearms away because of the horrible people who harm innocent people using them. So they will do anything to their capabilities to keep them.
There are arguments that demonstrate that stricter guns laws are the very core of creating a better and safer America. However, it is also true that States such as Chicago with very strict gun laws also have the highest gun related crimes. It is also argued that any of the crimes that happen are done with legally acquired guns. In my opinion, the number of guns that exist in the US are so many that gun related crime is inevitable. American citizens have the fundamental right to defend themselves. Americans also have the right to resist any crime that as the potential to cause great bodily harm or damage. To ignore these rights would be completely ignorant. Here in America, the right to carry weapons to defend oneself is a huge privilege that citizens of some other developed countries do not have. The question remains: Will controlling firearms result in less firearm deaths? The answer to that question is no. This is both proven and obvious. First is the point that criminals have never and will never obey the law, which is why they are criminals. The United Kingdom has an incredibly strict gun control policy but yet their murders involving a knife or other sharp edged weapons has a dramatic increase compared to our own. The second point is that there is already gun control implemented in many places, so gun control can easily be studied. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence studies and ranks all 50 states from the most strict to the most lenient. When comparing this with the FBI database of crime reports it will show that the strictest gun law states have the highest rate of firearm related murders than the state that is much more lenient. These two points come together to show that gun control will not work and is impractical.

Many probably live in fear. Maybe someone suffers from trauma after an incident like this happened. People who commit these crimes do not even stay in prison for that long. The debate over gun control in America has constantly brought up over the years due to gunmen killing large amounts of civilizations in shootings. From Columbine to Sandy Hook or the shootings of the two reporters in West Virginia, these public shootings are occurring everywhere. Lawmakers and civilians alike are pushing for increased gun control in hopes of preventing the same tragedies. Anybody that has been affected by the shootings have been pushing Congress and state governments to force new sanctions on government. With the past three years, Congress has shot down all the laws despite the large amounts of public support. Adding more gun control isn’t going to stop the mass shootings from happening.
Living a life in America, we all get to have all the rights that included in the Constitution. One of those was the Second Amendment which is the rights to bear arm, the purpose was to protect ourselves from danger but nowadays a lot of people have take advantage of it and use it in the wrong way. I believe our government need to have a strict limit on guns possession.
Guns have a long history in the United States. Guns are used for self-defense, but they are also used for hunting. Since guns are a part of the American culture, it is almost impossible to get rid of all the guns in the country. However, by training people how to use the guns properly, giving people the right mental care, and limiting the number of people who can have guns, could stop school shootings in America. Anything in the world could be dangerous if people do not know how to use them.
Perhaps raising the age limit to purchase guns since a majority of the recent killers were in their late teens to about late 20’s. Another possible solution is to have those who own guns to always have an ID with them showing that he or she owns a gun. The biggest solution is to lower the amount of guns available in the US to citizens. In David Auerbach’s article “The Gun Debate Won’t be Won With Statistics”, Auerbach makes a comment that “States with more firearm laws tend to have fewer shooting fatalities.” By lowering the number of fire-arms available to the public, that means that less people will be able to have a gun in their home and that results in having a low homicide rate. When purchasing a gun, one feels more powerful knowing that he or she is in possession of a war weapon, if limiting that power one will not feel the need to shoot because of irrational decisions made for having power from owning a gun. Recognizing that states with more gun laws have had less fatalities it is time for the government to set those laws in action all across the United States. As extreme as the idea may sound to some, allowing the government to have control over stricter gun laws in the country is a much better solution than giving Americans even more freedom to allow more guns to civilians. The American society must open their eyes to the positive side of
