Gun control is an awfully big issue in the United States today. Many people in America don’t agree with the gun control laws that they have today. Gun control laws only take guns and freedom away from law-abiding citizens. Many citizens have their own reasons for owning a gun. Why would the government want to make it harder for people to own a gun? People that own guns aren’t very likely to be attacked by criminals. Owning a handgun is one of the best ways of protection when used correctly. The second amendment states “the right to bear arms”; does this grant everyone the right to own a gun? There have been no studies of the effectiveness of gun laws that have shown any positive effect, yet some studies have shown a negative effect of gun control laws. The obvious effect of gun bans is to deny the law-abiding citizens access to firearms for their defense. Many people argue that taking guns away from law-abiding citizens doesn’t prevent the possessions of guns by criminals, because if criminals really want to get guns, their going to get them. If guns were eliminated from the scene, more knives, clubs, axes, pieces of pipe, baseball bats, brass knuckles, or, for that matter even fists would be used to kill people. “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people”. People have been killing people since the mankind has been alive, and we are just looking for something to blame it on, just like the big debate over violent videogames. The black market is open to anyone with money without discrimination of age, race, or gender. Gun control laws don’t even include criminals, unless they try to work through the legal system. The fight to ban gun control is going to be a difficult one. Gun control laws just take guns away from law-abiding citizens. There are many reasons why people want to own a gun. Don’t keep letting the government keep making it harder for us to won a gun, everyone is a lot safer when they own a gun and follow the laws. The second amendment clearly states “the right to bear arms”, don’t let the government try to change that. Don’t let gun control laws fool the public, because they have not been proven to reduce crime at all. So go out and buy a gun before that right is taken away.
