If there was no gun control, then the rates of gun deaths might easily skyrocket. An example of why gun control is essential is when one considers the various instances of a mass shooting. Whenever gun related crimes happen, such as the shooting of cops, black people, or a mass shooting in schools, the country turns into national mourning, meaning that this has an effect on all Americans. The laws as they are now, and some of those that have been proposed, do not have sufficient guidelines in place to prevent such gun related deaths. If there are restrictions on the gun ownership laws, and also a restriction in use, then these are crimes would reduce significantly, and there would be fewer reports of suicides and homicides in America. No other country in the world has such high rates of gun ownership as the United States. It is the use of these guns that has been associated with the constant reports of homicides, and the same guns are used to commit suicides. Throughout the many years of American history, the strongest opinion held by the constitutional scholars is that there is no mention of private gun ownership rights in the Second Amendment. What the constitution has done, however, is to guarantee a certain kind of collective right for the States to be able to maintain working militias. There are arguments that demonstrate that stricter guns laws are the very core of creating a better and safer America. However, it is also true that States such as Chicago with very strict gun laws also have the highest gun related crimes.
