There are many valuable things in life like family, sports, school but what about friendship? To live life without friendship is something no one should ever go through. Friendship is a necessity to living a successful life. Friendship occurs when someone is a supporter, gives assistance, and is attached to someone all the while genuinely taking care of them when they are hurt (The definition of friend, 1995-2002). A good and healthy friendship can be defined fro individuals as when someone has his or her own support system, a friend being loyal, and will always have genuine and mutual trust. Loyalty can only come from the heart, not from wanting to be a nice person. A loyal friend should support the friendship no matter what (Loyal- Dictionary Definition, 2016). If loyalty is missing other values in the friendship will suffer (cite). Loyalty between two people it is the key characteristic of what holds the friendship together. A good loyal friend pops up in life when everyone else is walking out of it (Doris Ann, 2011). With a loyal friend someone can laugh, weep, never feel bad about exposing yourself, and most definitely is someone worth praying with (Ann, 2011). Friendship with a best friend is just like a four leaf clover, very difficult to find and very lucky to have in life. Good loyal friends are like stars in the sky, they cannot be seen, but they are always there (Ann, 2011). As Doris Ann quotes, “ I asked God for water, he gave me an ocean. I asked God for a flower, he gave me a garden. I asked God for a tree, he gave me a forest. I asked God for a friend and he gave me you. Be loyal to your friends, and as always you must live well to be well” (Ann, 2011). The word integrity is defined in the dictionary as “adhering to moral and ethical principles” or simply, “honesty.” It is having a state of mind where a person believes in doing the right thing even if no one is paying attention. These are the people who have set morals for themselves, and they stick to them no matter how tempting it may be to disobey them. It’s all about self control and making sticking to your morals a habit. Making habits starts when people are young and impressionable, such as in high school.
To me, being a good friend is staying by their side, even if they do something you do not like. Also, a good friend would back you up and do whatever they can get others to see you for who you really are, not just for that one bad thing you might have done. Though some may argue that in Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, George was being a good friend to Lennie by making his death as painless as possible, but it is proven that he in fact was not being a good friend to Lennie when George kills him because Lennie is his best friend and being all he has, George is going to now suffer that loss and Lennie did not kill her because he was trying to be mean it was just a bad accident.

It is interesting how so many different situations when scraped down raw all pretty much can stand for the same exact thing. When it comes down to it most people find themselves loyal to their favorite sports team the same way someone could be loyal to a best friend or significant other. Both end up with thinking you will always favor that person, team or object.
