Lebron james once said, “nothing is given, everything is earned, you work for what you have”. Several years ago, I let the small things get to me. I knew I should have never listened to everything that I was told or even heard. Starting to work with my peers helped me become a better person and to improve on my grades. While looking up to new people they’ve put a positive and influential effect on me. If it wasn't for my family supporting me I wouldn't have achieved all of my goals. Throughout this experience, work ethic, friendship, family has helped me get where I am today. Attendance and good character is a very important work ethic trait to maintain. There are many valuable things in life, but friendship may be one of the most important. The beginning of freshman year my friends went their separate ways. I never thought meeting new people would make a difference. As that one day came to me, I realized that having friends that help with everything makes things better. While growing up things can be done on my own. In a couple of months I’ll be going into the U.S.Marine Corps. Of course I’ll make friends, but none of them will mean as much as my family does. If it wasn’t because of my family I wouldn’t be where I am today. Being able to rely on my family is another reason why they're important. The first people I turn to when I feel discouraged or happy is my family and siblings. Throughout this experience, my family has instilled a great work ethic that’ll always be with me. My family has also taught me lessons and how valuable my morals are and that's something that I take to heart. The friendships i've made has me a better person because I surround myself with people that have their best interests in me and that's something I value and treasure for the rest of my life. Throughout this experience, work ethic, friendship, family has helped me get where I am
...ghtful and inspirational to many. Realizing that each member of a family has his own issues that he is dealing with on top of keeping his family together can alter his reasoning and decision-making. Becoming less self-obsessed and demonstrating empathy for family members during difficult circumstances can be essential in keeping a family strong. Building and fortifying a foundation of family unity can be pivotal distinction between a family who stands together and one who crumbles apart.
Respect is important; however the most influential values I learned were kindness and the power of knowledge. As a kid, I was taught to work hard and have fun later; we were not allowed to leave the house to party or go out unless we had all our homework done. This meant learning to think critically and efficiently in order to do great work in a small amount of time. My parents dropped out of college so that they could give my sisters and I opportunities they didn't have, for this reason I have learned the value of har...
There are a few trends that I noticed when I had begin to analyze my family. Each and every last person that has been mentioned in this paper has been extremely resilient. For that reason I feel as though resiliency is something that runs deep throughout my veins. There has been countless times in my life in which the easy choice would be to just quit, but everyone in my family has eyes on me. In my family I have played a very dynamic role. When I was born I was the very first child, grandchild, and great grandchild in the family on both sides. From the time I was very young it had always been engrained in me that there will always be someone watching me. I have two younger brothers and countless younger cousins who all look up to me in one way or
When it comes to my studies and work, I am a very focused and determined individual. Because of this, I want to live with others who share my focus and determination. A themed or learning community offers the perfect opportunity for this. As such, the idea of living in such a place interests me greatly. Being surrounded by others who have the same or a greater work ethic and dedication to a particular field as I do would enhance my education immensely.
Work, this four letter word can take on a completely different definition depending on who is being asked, ranging from early adolescent teens on their first day of work to elders on their very last due to retirement. Employers look for people who will represent them in a positive way. This can sometimes mean that a person be asked to do an activity that may seem degrading like standing outside in a busy street advertising fried chicken within a chicken suit. In the workforce one can be struck with misfortune but “there is no ‘shame’ in doing any honest job”(Hooks 285) there is reward in itself when doing any type of job with no remorse and pride in accomplishing to earn money to support a family and/or oneself. Having a good understanding of what “right livelihood” (Hooks 287) means will prepare a person to go further in achieving a good work ethic.
Beyond a doubt, we must know and remember that friends can and will improve our lives. Are you the friend that gets out of your bed at night to rescue me when I’m stranded? Maybe you are the friend that will buy me food when I’m hungry. Sometimes, I have to think about if I have any good friends or if I have none. On certain days, I would sometimes hang out with friends that I barely talk to. Friends will always come and go is what I been taught. My friends are determined based on personality, style, and so much more. Sometimes I don’t see the true side of a friend until later down the line. I always observe my friends so that I know what category to place them in. According to Judith Viorst’s “Friends, Good Friends, - and Such Good Friends, “there are at least three categories of friendships based on levels of intimacy.
Growing up, my grandfather had a large influence in my life for the longest time. Later in life, my stepfather filled his shoes. Both instilled hard working ethics in me. They taught me to be on time, work hard, and do what it takes to get the job done. They said a good boss would recognize my potential and build on that by giving me opportunities to prove myself and promote my career. This has proven true throughout my life.
Today's youth, who are between the ages of sixteen and twenty-four, have a much poorer work ethic compared to the older generations. There are more opportunities to help and train them; however, it seems that it is not helping to develop them to be working citizens that are able to provide for themselves. They may not have a good understanding of what work ethic is or understand that there are real consequences.
Scrubbing off fish slime underneath filet tables may not be my favorite task, but it is a part of my job. My character and qualities all changed when I started working my sophomore year in high school. For nearly two years, I have worked at a small business every day during summer break, every Saturday during the school year, and any other time I can help. The small business is a fourth generation fish company founded way back in 1944 by my great-grandfather. I started working with little to expect only knowing I’d be able to start saving money. Work has given me more than a paycheck; I’ve become more of a leader at work and the more I’ve worked the more I’ve developed an impressive work ethic. Within the past two years, my job has helped me build relationships and grow as an individual.
Surely, everyone is fond of the idea of friendship. In fact, to most people living on this earth believe that friends are the most important part of their lives. When I was younger a teacher of mine, Ms. Macy, would constantly tell us that friends are forever, no matter what. I took her words literally and thought that when you made a friend, they would be in your life until the day you died. Friends are very important to me. My friends are like my family. Could you imagine how upset I was the day my best friend, Stephanie stopped talking to me over a stupid misunderstanding? Steph and I have been friends since we were in diapers. She even lived right across the street from me. We would do everything together. We were inseparable. I never thought in a million years, that our friendship would come to an end.
According to my experiences, I have learned the importance of a strong work ethic by not being handed everything

Those who value both their family and friendship relationships enjoy greater health and higher happiness. While no one should solely rely on friendships, these do have an impact on a person's well-being. This gives a better understanding and allows a person to thrive both physically and mentally. Just as with family relationships, having good friends can enhance the ability to cope with stress and learn how to grow as a person. College is a time for change. For most people it is a time when they find their way and become more independent. They will seek out new things, make mistakes, and learn how to manage time and energy. When life becomes stressful it will cause the need to rely on friends that are going through the same thing. When meeting back up with old friends, they may seem more mature or completely different. The way college changes friendships will be different for everyone. No two friendships are alike, so separation of going to college will affect everyone differently. Some friends will stay close so there will not be many changes and they will probably still text every day. While others will drift apart and might not even talk at all. College students will make new friends, maybe a new roommate, people in their classes, or in the cafe. There are a lot of opportunities to meet new people. Even with old friends in college, those friendships might change and meeting new people will cause one to grow
