No matter how old you are, you have mostly likely been touched by a love song. Love songs are a thing of the past, present and future. No matter how many people hate them or love them they will always find their way into our lives. Some love songs can make you feel sad and others make can make you feel loved. Some have slow tempos and others are more upbeat. One love song that I’d like to pinpoint is one by superstar Beyoncé Knowles. Having won 22 Grammy’s, Beyoncé is no stranger to number one hits. Her song “Crazy in Love” helped her collect 2 out of her 22 Grammys (Eidelstein). Judging by the title this song it is unquestionably a love song. That same year, “Crazy in Love” won her two Grammys. One for best R&B song and one for best rap/sung collaboration (Eidelstein). The song itself is flooded with various instrumental factors. Percussion instruments such as cymbals, drums, and horns are heavily used throughout the song. The opening hook alone begins with the blowing of horns and cymbal-led beats. However, the instrumental factors are no match for Beyoncé’s lead vocals. The famous vocal hook “Uh-oh uh-oh uh-oh oh-no-no!” is quickly incorporated into the song after a mere 14 seconds of running time (Music). The upbeat tempo of the song is very contagious with its dance worthy rhythm. The key to a dance worthy song is to maintain an upbeat tempo and Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love” maintains that tempo throughout the entire song. The appearance of Jay-Z in the song also helps maintain its tempo; with his rapping and rhymes he was definitely a great addition to the song. The lyrics themselves discuss how love can drive someone crazy. In the song, Beyoncé sings about her desires to always be with or around the person she loves, she also sings about how his makes her feel; which is crazy (“Beyoncé - Crazy In Love ft. JAY
