Literacy History
What is your first memory of reading?
When I was younger maybe kindergarten or preschool. Reading has always been something I love books always will be my favorite gift. I literally have 40 books in my room every time I get a chance I buy a new book.

2. What is your first memory of writing?
When I was in about 4th grade. It was the time in my life when I was going through hard times so writing short stories or even my feelings was like a temporary distraction to what I was going through. Instead of shedding tears or listening to the things people would tell me or do to me which is bullying me or knowing that tomorrow I might not have a meal I was smiling at what I was writing. I started like most kids with reading Junie B. Jones & Goose Bumps like most & went to Dork Diaries then went all the way to “How to kill a mockingbird” and books about people like Helen Keller, Madam C.J Walker, Marilyn Monroe & etc. by middle school. Since reaching high school I've been reading books by Ashley Antoinette, Jaquavis Coleman, Nikki Turner mainly urban books and a few James Patterson.

4. Explain some of your past experiences with writing. Are they positive or negative? How do you feel about writing?
My past experiences with writing have been a little of both. Besides writing what I wanted my life to be, I would also write about what my life was , the things that I have let make me who I am, broken. The abuse, taking care of my siblings, the penetration, the feeling of the weight of the world on my shoulders because I was 14 & 15 raising my younger siblings. But I honestly love writing it’s like being able to release what you are feeling without being judged by the ones around you.

5. Do you prefer to read as a class, in a small group, or alone?
I prefer to read on my own it’s easier to stay focused without
