The two inventories I completed where the Learning Style Inventory and the Learning style inventory based upon Gardner Multiple Intelligences. In the learning style inventory I learned that I that I am an auditory learner, which means that it is important for me to tape lectures in order for me to get a better understanding of the material I learned. In the Learning style inventory based upon Gardner Multiple Intelligences I learn that I have interpersonal intelligences which means that I am good communicating with others and understanding how they are feelings. In the, The RAIS and the Woodcock Johnson Tests, is used to measure a person’s basic intelligence. The test is shown that it only takes about thirty-five minutes based on who is administering the test and how the person receives the information. The test is split into four sections which consists of “Verbal intelligence index (VIX), a nonverbal intelligence index (NIX), a composite intelligence index (CIX), and the composite memory index (CMX)” (Sandhu, 2016). These all work together in the test to end with the final score or result. This will also demonstrate that of verbal intelligence. There are both nonverbal and verbal section within the test and the test can’t be done using the pencil and paper but has to involve the people giving it to the individual (Sandhu, 2016). I find this particular assessment/test to be useful as well in the classroom to help in aiding both the student and the teacher on skills both nonverbal and verbal based upon the student’s intelligence.
Everyone goes through different experiences in life, just as everyone has different types of intelligences and skills. In total there are nine types of intelligences but there is only 2 listed using 3 paragraphs. These examples come from “Flowers for Algernon” or “Dakota Fullest Earns Nation’s Highest Folk Honor”. Howard Gardner’s theory contains eight main multiple intelligence. As the years have progressed there have taken one out and is left with the main seven. These seven are: Linguistic, Mathematical, Spatial, bodily, Musical, Interpersonal, and Intrapersonal. These are found in everyone; however, each person will excel in one or two. Once teachers can determine what intelligence the students will exceed on and teach to their strengths the student will learn much more.
The term learning styles is based on the assumption that individuals differ in regards to what mode of instruction is most effective for them. Educational practitioners have long stressed that optimal instruction requires diagnosing these individual styles and designing instruction accordingly. There were no surprises, when I read the results of What’s Your Learning Style Test. I am fully aware that I am a visual learner. Now, more than ever I am depending in my visual skills when learning, because I have been enduring loss of hearing for about five years. Therefore, for work and most of other areas of my life, I utilize my eyes to read and learn everything, and to perform efficiently. Since, I do not hear well, now and then, I experience some difficulty following oral instructions. However, I disagree with the percentages reported by the test., According to it, I am 30% auditory, 25% tactile, and 40% visual. In my opinion, I am at least 60% visual.

Among the methods that can help these learners are by trying to use all the senses in the learning process because the more senses you use the higher recall will be, as you have many clues. In addition, make notes with several examples for each concept and use your own examples, the more personal examples you create, the better you remember. Auditory is meant for individuals that enjoy asking questions, talking and listening, as well as like to read out loud. Visual learners are more interested in charts, graphs, neat surroundings, seeing rather than hearing, and are pictured to be timid as they read to themselves rather than out loud. Finally there is the kinesthetic learning style. Kinesthetic is to touch, to feel, and usually learn by doing.

We can include all of the intelligences in lessons to accommodate all of the students’ different learning styles at once. By reaching each students intelligence we can assume that a student will perform better which, could mean students retaining more important information. A students learning style can also help lead them into a more appropriate career direction. As a teacher you can also learn your own personal learning style or intelligence to help improve the way you learn and teach.
According to the Webster Dictionary, intelligence is defined as a person who has the ability to not only acquire but, to also apply the knowledge and skills they have to everyday life.
