Learning Styles Inventory and Reflection People use their senses to well coordinate their learning skills such as listening and watching. The way you can take in information can come in the following learning styles, visual kinesthetic and auditory. A visual learner is someone who can best take in information by the use of photographs and charts. Kinesthetic learners also referred to as tactile learners enjoy learning new things, doing activities, but struggle to maintain themselves still. An auditory learner is easily distracted and struggles to follow written instructions. They improve in holding and maintaining information as they are listening. A learning style is an own preference used by individual in order to help remember or catch the point of the information given.

I have found it effectively useful because I tend to listen and understand what is being taught. Unfortunately, listening to lectures and writing down at the same time can become difficult to keep up and understand the concept. I lose track of what I am trying to note down to be able to refer back to it. When lectures take place and includes the presentation of multiple power point slides I make sure to print out my own copy ahead of time to be able to follow along with my professors and highlight the important information. For example, when coming across vocabulary words, I highlight the word itself and keywords in the definition. I plan to utilize these tools to help me not only interact with the work but with other people too. For example, when working in groups inside the classrooms we each can have different visual presentations or opinions of the concept being taught. It can help your study skills and be able to understand the topic with more than one example set
After completing the Learning Styles Questionnaire by Honey and Mumford my scores were Reflector- 9, Theorist- 8, Pragmatist- 8, and Activist- 7. Comparing my scores with the provided descriptions of learning styles, I was not surprised by the results and the explanations. The probability of combinations of learning styles was listed, with Reflector/Theorist occurring the most. However, my results could easily be either Reflector/Theorist or Reflector/Pragmatist or a combination of all four styles. I am unsure if it is possible to be a “well-rounded” learner, but my scores suggest I have strong characteristics of all four styles of learning: Reflector, Theorist, Pragmatist, and Activist.

It is beneficial to know that I am a visual learner due to the fact I have to visually see things for myself to understand and learn it. Growing up I have always been a visual learner. I found this inventory to be correct because of they way that I am , and how I take things in. When trying an auditory learning method, one big problem I struggle with is being able to pay attention long enough. By obtaining the confirmation on my preferred learning method, I can broaden my learning method by practicing the other learning methods outside of visual learning. I believe that I can open my learning styles by tring the other methods. After reading the learning method I think I will do good if I tried kinesthetic, being that I can see it as well as being hands
The two inventories I completed where the Learning Style Inventory and the Learning style inventory based upon Gardner Multiple Intelligences. In the learning style inventory I learned that I that I am an auditory learner, which means that it is important for me to tape lectures in order for me to get a better understanding of the material I learned. In the Learning style inventory based upon Gardner Multiple Intelligences I learn that I have interpersonal intelligences which means that I am good communicating with others and understanding how they are feelings.
There were no surprises, when I read the results of What’s Your Learning Style Test. I am fully aware that I am a visual learner. Now, more than ever I am depending in my visual skills when learning, because I have been enduring loss of hearing for about five years. Therefore, for work and most of other areas of my life, I utilize my eyes to read and learn everything, and to perform efficiently. Since, I do not hear well, now and then, I experience some difficulty following oral instructions. However, I disagree with the percentages reported by the test., According to it, I am 30% auditory, 25% tactile, and 40% visual. In my opinion, I am at least 60% visual.
While reading Kolb 's Learning Styles Model and Experiential Learning Theory, I have identified myself as an accommodating learner. At first I was somewhat surprised, but the more I read about the learning styles, particularly after I completed Kolb’s Learning Style Inventory it made more sense. I have a very hands-on style, which matches perfectly with my enjoyment of performing tests to find the root cause of behavior that I’m investigating. According to Kolb’s Learning Style Inventory, referring to ways to knowing, I lean more towards Concrete Experience. I refer to my direct experience rather than thinking. “A Concrete Experience orientation focuses on being involved in experiences and dealing with immediate human situations in a personal way. It emphasizes feeling more than thinking” (“The Learning Style Inventory”, para. 6). This helps because I can get involved in the situation at hand. It also allows me the patience to deal with people. This especially comes in handy in my current occupation. I work in Technical Support, so I am constantly dealing and communicating with people. It is important to know how to efficiently communicate with the customers to obtain useful information

For those who learn through visual means, they are called called visual learners and are most likely to retain information’s more effectively when it is presented to them in visual forms like charts, pictures or illustrations. Ever been sitting in on a lecture, and being the only one in class to not understand? Different people learn differently; this is called our own personalized learning styles. When some take notes to memorize, other may create a poster or some other form of art, and it just clicks. My learning style is visual, others may be more in tune to haptic, or auditory ways of learning. To better define/examine the different styles, I will compare and contrast my own with that of haptic individuals in multiple examples.
Generally speaking, Mullock’s research paper is easy to follow and understand. At the very first stage of reading the article, I found quite confused with the way which the writer presented her points. Yet, the more I read the article, the clearer and more logical her points became. She studied an issue that has been perennial topic of discussion in any educational context, so the title drew attention at the first time of reading. The interest was heightened as reading through the article. As obviously showed on the paper, there was a change in today students’ perceptions of what constitutes a good language teacher compared to those of students in the past. The author has a firm background of TESOL teaching and teacher training. Plus, she utilized a lot of appropriate sources to back her points of view up. For instance, Mullock’s respondents were experienced and intending teachers, so she compared her respondents’ answers to findings of other studies on teacher’s thought. As a result, the credibility of this study is not a controversial matter. Another good point of this study is the appropriateness of the language use because Mullock used familiar terminology in education field when the targeted audiences are TESOL students, teachers, educational researchers and educators.

Technology can be used to motivate students as well as to offer more challenging opportunities. It can also be used as a visualization tool to keep students interested in the subject that is being taught. When technology is used effectively, students have the opportunity to develop skills that they may not get without the use of technology (Cleaver, 2011). Assessing and monitoring students is easier on the teacher because of the ability to use technology in the classroom. When technology is used correctly it offers limitless resources to a classroom atmosphere.
