The main rule of leading by example is never ask anybody to do something that a person would not do. If a person's job is to work in the kitchen and he asked someone to peel potatoes and that person gets behind, being a good example would be to pitch right in and help the person to catch up. Another example is being a girl/boy scout leader and teaching them to obey rules and respect others while doing so themselves.
