Leadership and Change

982 Words2 Pages

Change is when a person does not follow their everyday routine. They may want to try something different, or be forced to. Change can be for the good and the bad. Places can deal with change ranging from the weather, to the animals present, or the seasons changing. Also, objects can deal with change too. Objects like an iceberg can start to melt, or a forest fire can kill many trees in an area. As a human, we are the ones deciding on change. We are in a position to make big decisions and possibly even become a leader in order for change to happen. If one person starts to change, others will follow and hopefully, the change benefits all.

Change affects us in the work place, participating on a team, and in society. People may have to adapt to a new environment, a new leader, or routine. Some people may easily adapt to change while others may never adapt at all. People usually think breaking a routine can lead to a negative outcome. Growing up, teachers have always stressed the importance of global warming and how we have to change our ways of living in order to prevent the glaciers from melting, or animal’s habitats being lost. In the book Our Iceberg is Melting, the penguins on the iceberg are trying to influence the others in their community because their iceberg is in danger of melting. Some penguins in the community do not think changing their location to a new ice berg is a good idea even though their lives are at danger on their current ice berg.

We need to embrace change by having an individual take a leadership role. There can be more than one leader, but at least one person has to realize change is needed for the better and success of others. Another way to embrace change is by bringing the ...

Change tries to better situations for people, but effects people in different daily. People have to embrace change and be open minded in order to be successful with the change. A leader has to be present forming relationships with others on his/her team and influence others to achieve his/her goal. If Fred and Alice did not connect with the others on their team, or influence others in their colony, then the penguins could have lost their home and in the end, died. Leadership is important when change is present because without a leader then there would be no change, or new discoveries in the world.
