Kumon Math & Reading Center is an educational center that teaches children math and reading. It also teaches the children how to be a self-learner. As a tutor, the typical activities that a tutor does is grading the student’s homework, classwork, and corrections, tutoring the students, input the student’s score into the CMS program, and preparing the student’s folder for the following weeks. The interactions with the students are the most beneficial in my education because I get to see how they are in the educational environment. Kumon is slightly stricter than the school setting because there are rules that the school does not enforce. One of the things that they cannot do is to count with their fingers with doing their math assignment. We recommend them to write down whatever answer comes to their mind and complete their work as fast as they can. Their progress of their work depends on the number of correct and the time that it takes them to complete the assignment. Another thing that they have to do that the school does not make them do is to sit straight up, facing the front with their feet on the floor. There were no ethical concerns that I have at Kumon during my internship.

Students spend more time with the parents than with the tutor at Kumon since they are only at Kumon for two days of the week, to do their classwork. Those other five days of the week, they are at home with their parents doing their homework. If the students see that their parents does not encourage the children to do their work or is there for support, the students can model the parents and not care about education. This type of parents can give the tutor a hard time because the tutor are trying to give the students the best education that they
