The Pigman The book The Pigman is about a close friendship between the main characters John, Lorraine, and Mr. Pignati. The amazing friendship between the three main characters all started when John and Lorraine prank called Mr. Pignati and asked for ten dollars to help them out with their fake charity they made up "The Lorraine and John Fund!"(23). Mr. Pignati invited John and Lorraine to his house to get the donation for the charity but Mr. Pignati's welcomed them into house way nicer than they expected. "Please sit down," he said smiling away like crazy." I've got some homemade wine if you like"(36). Mr. Pignati friendly personality got the two teenagers wanting to know more about him. The Beekman store was Mr. Pignati favorite place to go shopping with Conchetta back in the days and he wants his two teenagers friend to see what it's like. "Mr.Pignati started getting excited when we got inside with all those Saturday shoppers"(81)."You could tell right off he was going to show us around as though he owned the place"(81). They first went to a fancy food store and Mr. Pignati started buying anything type of food John and Lorraine wanted. The way Mr. Pignati treated and wanting to buy all the food, clothes, and shoes at the Beekman for Lorraine and John was like as if they were his son and daughter. Mr. Pignati also bought them roller skates and John and Lorraine riding their skates along with him made the old man's day very fun and got him to act like a kid. "Wait for me," Mr. Pignati yelled, carrying his skate under his arm and laughing along with us"(88).
