In the story the Pigman the main characters John and Lorraine were in high school . John and Lorraine are best friends. John has an Antagonistic attitude towards school. When John smokes and drinks he does it at night so he had a Nocturnal activity. Lorraine has a Mortified feeling towards her mother and her home. The reason why is because she doesn’t treat Lorraine nicely. John and Lorraine have kind of the same life at home and with their parents. Only thing that’s different is that John has a problem with his dad and Lorraine has a problem with her mom. Their life is practically the same.

John and his roller skates were headed upstairs and the Mr.Pignati went right after him. When they were halfway up the stairs the Mr.Pignati started to have a heart attack. John didn’t notice because he was having too much fun. They called the ambulance and they took him to the hospital. A couple days later John decided to have a little party. On their way home from school Jenny and Willie hook up. Then on the weekend, Jenny, Johnny, Willie and his family decide to go to the lake. Willie and Jenny set the table for a picnic when Johnny is out skiing. Willies mom complains about him never being safe enough. Next it is Willie's turn to water-ski. As Willie was doing a 360° turn, he caught the tips of his skis under the water and he crashed. Willies dad was in shock, Jenny had to give Willie mouth to mouth, and save his life. The left the boat, got into the vehicle, and drove to the hospital. Willie ends up with a speech impediment, and problems walking. He ends up doing crazy things, like acid, and drinking. He talks to a counselor whom he really likes. Willie does not want to go into a Special Ed class that the school is referring him to. He feels hopeless, and even jealous of his girlfriend for her athletics. He tries to play racquetball, but his dad gets frustrated with him. That night he hears his parents arguing over him. He hears his dad say that he thinks it would have been easier if Willie had died in the accident. From there he suspects Jenny and Petey of getting together, and finds out that they are.

Zindel had a Pigman just like John And Lorraine who helped him through his life and embraced him to be the talented author he really is. He worked first as a technical writer at a chemical company then as a high school chemistry teacher. As he taught he continued to write plays, Marigolds of his plays was soon turned into a television show. A children's book editor from Harper and Row asked Zindel if he wanted to be a writer and he accepted. He soon came out with The Pigman a Story about two teenagers that have an unlikely friendship with an old man. Paul Zindel was born on May 15th 1936 on Staten Island, New York. When John and Lorraine started messing around with Mr.Pignati all of their lives went from faulty to terrible. This happened because neither John nor Lorraine were mature enough to be friends with Mr.Pignati. They were two untrustworthy sophomores that threw parties and played immature pranks. When they finally realized what maturity was it was too late, they had already caused too many hardships in Mr.Pignati's life causing him to have a stroke, and ultimately his death. Which causes John and Lorraine to write an epic about Mr.pignati, so that he will always be remembered as a kind, fun loving, old man. That had helped them out of their troubles and treated them as their parents should have treated them in the first place. He was the only one to ever really care for them and treat them nicely, through piles of gifts and compliments like they have never seen before. Paul Zindel uses the literary elements symbolism and foreshadowing to express the theme, true maturity can only be attained when one forsakes the thoughtlessness of adolescence, while still maintaining a child's sense of joy and wonder.
Two people with two completely different characteristics have something alike. Both Dally and Johnny are mentally tough because of their parents. Johnny and Dally’s parents both do not care for them and could care less about them. For example, during Dally’s childhood he went to jail, been in a gang, and has been in many fights and his dad still would not care for him even if he won the lottery. On an ordinary day, Leslie opens the main door of her house, when she walked inside she saw her mom and sister Islla sitting on the coach. Islla was crying, and Leslie ask her “What happened?’ Why you crying?’”. Islla told her that she is pregnant and that she wants to keep the baby even if her boyfriend will be against the baby, but she will need to drop out from her University. In a few minutes of thinking, Leslie decided and told her sister “You don’t need to drop out I will help you to babysit with my nephew.”

The story is of two men trying to survive with one another in a world full of loneliness; their relationship is quite rare and strange. A friendship can be considered to be one of the most complex and ever changing concepts that the human race tries to comprehend. In ';Lord of the Flies';: by William Golding, Piggy and Ralph, both as different in looks as they are in personality, are forced together by fate and to allie with one another for survival .Through the harsh experiences, that they battle through, an indestructible bond is formed. The friendship continuously develops from the reliance of Piggy upon Ralph at the beginning of the story, then to the alliance of both Piggy and Ralph as more tragedy struck, to their unbreakable bond which is formed, after the whole group falls apart.
