There are not many of them, and in medieval Europe there was only one loan of Arc, who was she? And how did it happen that a young girl who never learned to read and write became a general? At that time there were many wars between England and France to decide who should rule France. In i428 the English had almost won and there seemed to be no hope for the French. Then something strange happened. A 17-year-old girl came to the French King Charles VII and told him that she had been sent by God to drive the English out of France and to see him crowned. The girl was loan of Arc Joan of Arc is one of the most romantic figures
In Middle Aged Europe, feudalism and the Catholic Church dominated what was left of a central government. People lived without leadership, and those who did turned only to small based feudal Lords with little power. This led to a serious lack of intellectual activity and many of the Europeans during this era were considered to be, “wallowing in their own filth.” As a result, the Black Death spread rampantly after its initiation in 1348. Several accounts of the disease portrayed it as a horrendous, deadly and disgusting disease that preyed on every man woman and child. Angelo di Tura chronicles the outbreak of the Black Death in the Italian city of Siena in May of 1348. He writes, “There are not words to describe how horrible these events have been [...] whoever can say that they have not lived in utterly horrid conditions can consider themselves lucky” remarking at how terrible life with

The 5000 English soldiers lead by Thomas de Montecute, attacked for months. Around this time, Joan of Arc Appeared in at the court of Charles, and lifted the siege in 1429. This was the major turning point for the French in the war.

Throughout her life, she struggled with an education and growing up on a farm. About six hundred years ago in Europe, the French and the English were fighting for the French throne. Charles VII, the dauphin, was fighting against Henry VI, the King of England (Clin, 3). This war, later known as the Hundred Years’ War, took place during the 15th century. Joan of Arc, a peasant girl from Domrémy, joined the side of the dauphin after voices that she claimed came from saints, instructed her to help (Schmalz). Her influence brought about the end of the siege on Orléans and the coronation of King Charles. Joan was able to rally the French forces and turn the momentum of the entire war around (Clin, 3). Despite being a woman in a time when females were subjugate to males, Joan of Arc was the most influential warrior in the Hundred Years’ War because her leading role in the break of the siege on Orléans, the crowning of the king and her symbolic significance for France were major turning points in the war.
... influential women in the history of Europe. She served as an example to women during a period where there was an increasing development in the female’s role in society. She also owned land which was given to her by her father when he died. That was very unusual as land were not normally given to women. When she married Louis, the king of France, she went with him on the second crusade organizing his policy.
“Not, perhaps, the patroness of France; rather, the patroness of vivid life, prized not for military victories but for the gift of passionate action taken against ridiculous odds, for the grace of holding nothing back.” (Gordon 173). This quote is referring to Joan of Arc. Joan of Arc was very religious; known for seeing visions and voices from God telling her to go deep into France and help with the war, which she did. At the age of eighteen Joan of Arc led French armies through a series of battles and each of these battles resulted in a victory. Many people, especially men, were threatened by her because of the fact that she was able to do things like leading armies when she was both a girl and a teenager and because she was able to see visions
The Hundred Years’ War (1337-1453) consisted of numerous small raids between local armies in which the French suffered many losses. Two of these losses included the battles at Crecy and Poitiers. However, over time, the French rebounded after the victory at the battle in Orleans in 1429, which was led by 17-year old French peasant, Joan of Arc. Before going into battle, Joan sent a letter to the English demanding that they leave France. Joan’s letter to the king of England in 1429 and her role in the battle at Orleans played a symbolic role and affected the French’s success in the Hundred Years’ War by increasing French spirits and showing the weakness of the English.
Joan of Arc, a well-known Catholic saint and French national heroine, is a figure worthy of historical attention. Born in Domremy, France, sometime around 1412, Joan lived as a peasant with her family on fifty acres of land. At the end of her short life of nineteen years, Joan revealed in a trial that her rise to power in the Anglo-French conflict was due to a series of visions she had as a young girl. These visions, which were religious in nature, helped Joan to turn the Hundred Years War into a religious conflict. Despite her efforts to turn the tide of the war and helping to win a pivotal battle in Orleans, Joan was captured and put on trial for heresy. After a trial that lasted for months, Joan was officially labeled a heretic and burned at the stake in 1431. It would only be centuries later that Joan would gain sainthood in the Catholic church and become formally recognized as a woman of power, even centuries after her death. Joan of Arc’s life can be examined in three distinct parts: her early life’s revelations of religious visions, her entrance into the Hundred Years War as a leader of the French army, and her death as a heretic and eventual entrance to sainthood. The combination of these events convinces observers that Joan was a woman of power ahead of her time, and in each part of her life, Joan took on a role normally expected of men. Joan of Arc thus was a major contributing catalyst for feminist action, serving as a visionary, military hero, and eventual martyr.
Joan lived during a turbulent time in French history. The French and English states had been at war since 1337 over disputed territories in France and who could inherit the French throne. The English claimed that their king could inherit the French throne through shared royal bloodlines and also inherit vast territories in present-day southwestern France. By the time of Joan’s birth, the English had secured almost all of France and were poised to capture the French crown. The French heir to the throne, the Dauphin, was forced into hiding and Paris was under English control. It was under these dire circumstances that Joan emerged.
During the Middle Ages of Europe there was a great war between France and England known as the 100 year War. Throughout this war there were many historic battles and many warriors that have had stories told about them over the years. None more famous than a young girl from a small village named Joan of Arc. Joan of Arc lived a short life, but did so much that she has many songs, stories, and even today movies made about her. If there was one person that deserved to have stories told about them, Joan of Arc is that person deserving.
She lead an army of French soldiers to battle against the English. Then after leading the French to battle against the British she lead them to victory against the English. She thought she heard voices inside her head that she would lead France victorious over the English. I mostly chose her because there are many interesting facts about her to write about. Then she went to the leaders of France and told them that she had voices inside her head to lead the French. Next the leaders did not believe her, but then a little after they started to believe her after she proved herself in front of lots of soldiers. After they believed her, then when she went to battle, people thought they were joking about her going into battle as a woman. Everybody had heard the rumor that she heard voices inside her head telling her stuff. I really think that she is quite unique to write about her and do research to learn a lot more about
In the end, she was betrayed by her own country which she chose to fight for and successfully won battles for, leading to the defeat of the English. All in all, Joan’s gender and social class worked against her being a war general.
Joan of Arc -Joan of Arc was a peasant girl living in Medieval France. She believed that God had chosen her to lead France to victory against England because she had visions, she was soon captured by Anglo Burgundian forces and tried for witchcraft and heresy and burned at the stake.
Joan of Arc was just an average girl until she put on the helmet and hoisted the sword that changed the course of her life. Joan was a soldier for France during the Hundred Years War. Not only was she a woman on the battlefield, but she led an army at the age of 16. Both her effort in the battles and her trial majorly changed the outcome of the war. Joan of Arc changed society and continues to influence history today through her poor upbringing and dedicated early life, her heroics and bravery in battle, her courage and defiance during her trial, and her role and influence as a Catholic saint.
Joan of Arc was an amazing girl with lots of courage and lots of bravery. She fought in what seemed to be an everlasting war with more bravery than most of the men of her time. She never gave up and she never surrendered to the enemy. Her life was one filled with hard fought battles and risky adventures. She risked everything to do what God summoned her to do. Her story is one that proves that Joan of Arc, over all others, is truly the best heroine of all times.
