Joan of Arc was an amazing girl with lots of courage and lots of bravery. She fought in what seemed to be an everlasting war with more bravery than most of the men of her time. She never gave up and she never surrendered to the enemy. Her life was one filled with hard fought battles and risky adventures. She risked everything to do what God summoned her to do. Her story is one that proves that Joan of Arc, over all others, is truly the best heroine of all times. Joan was born in a place you would not expect a hero to be born. She was born in the small village of Domremy to a shepherd named Jacque D’ Arc. She grew up with no education and her job was a shepherdess. This one detail proves even more that Joan was the best heroine ever. Not only was she a girl, but she was a poor girl in a poor place. This made it difficult for Joan to win respect with many of the nobleman of France and commanders in the army later in her life. (Williams, Pg.12 and 13) “Joan had to increase her efforts because she appeared on the stage of history at a time when men wrote the script and played the leading roles.” (Struchen, Pg.17) When Joan was 13 years old she began to hear voices and see visions. She saw in her visions the archangel, Jesus, and two saints who were to guide her on her journey through history from a simple shepherdess, to a war hero, to a saint. “Joan began to hear voices, which she determined had been sent by God to give her a mission of overwhelming importance.” (History.com.) The Archangel gave Joan specific instructions “to relieve the siege of Orleans, to lead the Dauphin to Reims where he would be crowned, and to drive the English at last from France.” (Williams Pg.20) Finally, Joan consented to the voice... ... middle of paper ... ...ter Joan of Arc died her family and her friends came to Pope Calixtus III and he reinvestigated Joan’s trial. After doing so, he proclaimed that Joan’s trial was “full of iniquity” and had “manifest errors in fact as in law.” Joan was proclaimed innocent. In 1869, the bishops and archbishops of France petitioned that Joan be canonized as a saint. In 1920, the act of her canonization was fulfilled and now she stands as a saint of the Roman Catholic Church. (Jehannedarc.com) Joan of Arc was a poor girl in a poor place at a poor time. She was a courageous leader who stood up for herself and never backed down from an order from God. She was a talented speaker who rose up against those who condemned her. Her life was hard but she took down all the challenges in her way. She died with courage, and she died for a good and right cause. She truly was the best heroine ever.
