Music is food for the soul. That's why I listen to music that is soulful and has meaning. You never know where you'll get it. Interesting enough, one day streaming music on Jimi Hendrix Radio on Spotify, a band by the name of "Buffalo Fish" came up and their song "One Crack." Instantly I was drawn in and was curious why I haven't heard of this band before. Not wasting any time, I took it upon myself to find out more about this band. Found out they are based out in London. Which made sense. Then, I go back to Spotify and listen to their album, "Raw Bait," and I have to say I was very impressed to say the least. Their song 'Strange Days," is an absolute hit. They definitely gained a new fan after listening to their album in it's entirety. If
The Beatles composed and sang many beautiful and timeless songs during their musical career. One song, however, captures the essence of Victor Frankenstein’s creation. Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein in 1818. The Beatles wrote a song off their The White Album entitled Blackbird in 1968. Generations apart from each other, these two artistic masterpieces are more similar than one may deem.
I think music has a way of explaining something or telling a story. Music can bring up happy times, it can also bring up sad times as well. Certain songs can remind someone of troubling issues from a past, can be the reminder of someone you have lost, it can also be a reminder of many happy times; such as weddings, high school dances, or even just hanging out with friends in the back
Music is a large consumption of my daily life and the artists I listen to have shaped me in some way. Listening to music is one of my most time
What do you think of when I say this for a band name, Dog Fashion Disco? You never heard of them, have you? There a Five piece band from Washington DC, who are signed with Spitfire Records. Their lineup consists of Jeff Siegel/keyboards, Stephen Mears/bass, Tod Smith/vocals/guitar, John Ensminger/drums, and Greg Combs/guitar. Their new CD, "Anarchist of Good Taste", was produced by Drew Manzurek and was released on March 6, 2001.
Strange fruit is and amazing dark poem told by Billie Holiday as very powerful song. Strange Fruit is a terrifying protest against the inhumane acts of racism. Strange Fruit was about the murders and lynching going on in the south at the time from public hangings to burnings. The south has a cruel and terrifying past that haunts the very people who still live down there and remind them that only a short time ago was no one prosecuted for killing someone of dark skin since whole towns were involved in it.
Music is a funny thing. I’ve listened to music all my life, thousands of songs, hundreds of artists. But only a few stick out; like my first real album (Tiffany’s self titled release. What ever happened to her?), or my first alternative album (the Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik: I bought it on tape when I was 14 and listened to it so much that it wore out). Only one has become a part of who I am, the Dave Matthews Band’s Crash. Somewhere between its "So Much To Say" and "Proudest Monkey" my indifferent hearing turned into awareness, and I stopped listening with just my ears and started listening with my heart.
Even before words were spoken there was music. There are so many aspects to music and the main one is to make a person feel good and happy it also tells the story and allows a person to relate to the artist. A good music source can allow you to escape from certain tragedies or relationship issues such as a breakup
Music is one of the most fantastical forms of entertainment. Its history stretches all the way from the primitive polyrhythmic drums in Africa to our modern day pop music we listen to on our phones. It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Everyday I walk to the beat of the song stuck in my head and hum along to the melody. For me, to listen to music be lifted into the air by the hands of your imagination and float around for a while. You forget about your worries, your troubles and find peace within the sound. Every chapter in my life is attached with a song. Every time I listen to a certain song, thoughts of my past come flooding back
Music inspires me and it uplifts me, it get me through life’s challenges. At the moment is Solid Rock, sung by Tasha Cobbs and Jamie Grace, is my go to song. I like to play it over and over, and every time I hear the lyrics, “Solid, my solid rock. You are solid, my solid rock” it does something to my spirit. If those were all the words in the song that would be fine with me. Everyone goes through some sort of trial whether it is financial, relational, or health. When I listen to the song it gives me an assurance that God’s got my back and I can lean on Him. Not only do I find assurance in the song it moves me to tears of praise.
Music according to Merriam Webster dictionary can be defined as “the science and art of ordering tones in succession, combination, and in temporal relationships to produce having unity and continuity. The dictionary made me understand that for music to be meaningful, it must have an agreeable sound. Music depicts a lot of information, ideas, knowledge and importantly feelings. People who make or produce music definitely have a way they feel before they begin to sing or before they make a decision to sing. A popular musician, Bob Marley said, “one good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” The familiarity of a song can determine the way you feel about the song.
