Jacques D’Amboise states “Everything we do has time and space and dance has been invented, evolved, to express the human being living in the present and being part of time and space.” By listening to Jacques D’ Amboise’s experience with ballet, I reflect on my pass experience with dance through color guard. Throughout my four years of high school I participated in color guard. The Color Guard is the electrifying dance of marching band incorporating equipment, such as flags and rifles. Color guard is a mix various dance styles, including modern, ballet, jazz, and hip-hop. In the video, best known for his tapping shoes, Gregg Burge, choreographer, states “For me dance is nutrient… it’s something that I need Like the air we breathe, food we eat. These are thing we need for survival. For me dance is a nutrient. It’s my nourishment….. there are time when I feel, I can be depressed, and I can’t even pinpoint what it is that bothering me and I’ll go take a class and I’ll come out of that class and I’ll feel great. It’s therapeutic.” We can all relate with Burge, it might not be dance but we all have a passion that motivate us through life. For example, writing in my journal idea and thoughts and listening to music is my nutrient it’s the way I cope. For example, if I am low I will write in my journal while play some sad music to express how I feel then gradual work toward fun upbeat music that I can dance to lighten up my mood.
