Jeanette Walls is the picture-perfect illustration of an individual who finds righteousness for herself. She is the protagonist in the book “The Glass Castle”, who has an unfair miserable childhood due to how her parents were. Walls stands out for her determination as she goes out to the real world to seek her own justice, with the ultimate goal of being stable for once, and take responsibility for herself, not for the whole family.
“The dream lives on twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, twelve months a year. The dream has four years at a big-time college ahead of it. And who knows maybe even the NFL.” (Bloor, Page 212). This quote is significant because it represents what Jack is and what he has done. Ralph calls Jack these names before they lose their temper and are about to fight. In this quote, Ralph has called Jack out, that he is the reason of all the misfortune that has happened on the island and that he is the beast. That he was the reason of all this savagery and that he caused the evil within the boys, he brought it on through his need for leadership and his want for hunting and killing. Ralph calls him a thief and a swine because of his behaviour towards Piggy. He stole his glasses and turned all the boys against Ralph and Piggy who were the only good people on the island. As well as for making the island a fearful place for the boys. I feel that Ralph is right in everything he has said to Jack. He created the fear on the island all because of his need to be chief. As well as turned everyone against each other at the ending of the novel.
There is no doubt that Miss. Strangeworth is not an easy person to deal with, let alone live with, and although her character is fictional, there are many people with the same personality. We can tell quite easily that she is a very meticulous woman, with a lot of perfectionist tendencies, a few of which are to nitpick people’s lives and make sure that even the most minute detail is up to her standards. I know of someone with these attributes and as difficult as they are to deal with, with their list of requirements to be met and their eagle-eye for detail in even the smallest things, they mean the best, and are always trying to help, despite the possible repercussions.
“His mother, Dale, felt the same way, for football had become as important to her as it had to her son. She went to every practice, and on Thursday nights she always invited a bunch of the players over for lasagna. She had sobbed after the loss to Lee just as hard as Jerrod had, for she feared the season’s ending every bit as much as he did” (Bissinger 249). Bissinger is astounded by the need for the parents to push their children into sports. Bissinger also analyzes the theme of downfall through several characters.
“ Whatever brings you down, will eventually make you stronger”( Alex Morgan). Alexandra Patricia Morgan was born in Diamond Bar, California on July 2, 1989. When she was a little girl, Alexandra was given the nickname of Alex and (baby horse because she was fast), which was used throughout her whole life (Fishman, Jon 10). Ever since a young age, Alex has been very competitive. For example, when Alex was about three years old, she would sit in the corner playing Monopoly by herself so that she could get better and win when she played against her siblings, even though she didn’t know how to play (Becoming Alex Morgan). With Alex and her competitive attitude, she was very athletic and always wanted to be the best at everything (Becoming Alex Morgan). At around the age of eight, Alex wanted to go to the Olympics one day for the sport of soccer which she began the really progress at (Fishman, Jon 11). At the age of fourteen, Alex got serious about soccer and went from playing AYSO, Recreational soccer meaning it was
The film chronicles the histories of three fathers, and manages to relates and link their events and situations. First is Mitchell Stephens and his relationship with his drug-addict daughter. Second is Sam, and the secret affair he is having with his young daughter Nicole. He is somewhat of a narcissistic character because of his preoccupation with himself and pleasing himself, and his lack of empathy throughout the film for the others in the town. Third is Billy, who loves his two children so much that he follows behind the school bus every day waving at them. Billy is also having an affair with a married woman who owns the town’s only motel. On the exterior the town is an average place with good people just living their lives. But, beneath all the small town simplicity is a web of lies and secrets, some which must be dealt with in the face of this tragedy.
The Alchemist (The Secrets of The Immortal Nicholas Flamel) was written by Michael Scott. Dr. John Dee is trying to get the Book of Abraham the Mage from Nicholas Flamel. Abraham the Mage is the most powerful book that is in existence. I chose Dr. John Dee because I thought he was the most interesting character in the book because everything he was trying to do he would always have something with him to help fight against Flamel.

My struggles with soccer began early in my life. I was an average player, who had a drive to succeed and go far. Early in my soccer career I began to have difficulty breathing, and was struggling to run normally. I was then diagnosed with asthma. I was frustrated with the way I was playing, but decided I was not going to let the asthma control my life, or my dreams. As in The Pact, George, Rameck, and Sam tried not let the distractions of their home lives interfere with the drive to succeed in college, and fulfill their dreams. In George’s case, I think he struggled at home because he never had a male figure in his life. His parents divorced early in his life. When his mom remarried, it didn’t last long. George came home to find all of his step-fathers stuff gone. Rameck’s mother was involved in the drinking and smo...
In the story "How Jack Went to Seek His Fortune", Jack is the protagonist in the story. He could also be the static character because he would allow animals to follow him and protect him. “I am going to seek my fortune.” “May I go with you?” “Yes,” said Jack, “the more the merrier.” The antagonist are the robbers.
