You might know Harrison Ford as an actor in Star Wars or Indiana Jones. You might know him because of his awards or maybe it’s just those kids at school that love his movies. But, I bet you did not know he had dyslexia, even though he had this problem he still excelled in acting and carpentry. He may have been slow in school or expelled from his university but he still pushed on, he wanted to pursue his dream to become an actor. How did he do it? You’re about to find out! ~What is dyslexia? Dyslexia is a lifelong condition that makes it hard to read. Dyslexia affects reading comprehension, math skills, reading skills, and writing skills. Every one in five students have dyslexia. Dyslexia is not a disease in fact dyslexia means poor language. I looked at a simulation and the letters jump all around except for the first and last one. It was very hard to understand and comprehend all of the words. Dyslexia only makes it harder to learn it’s like an obstacle, but can be overcome. ~What causes dyslexia? Dyslexia is caused by heredity and genes, basically it runs in the family, and brain anatomy, everyone’s brain is different, it depends on how it functions. While he was in college he decided to do the drama/acting class. He LOVED it but, it did not help in any other classes though, so because of his academic difficulties he got expelled. He loved acting so he moved to hollywood. He used his carpentry for support, and ended up making things for Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas. That is how he landed the roles of han solo, indiana jones, and many more.
