The Holocaust was a genocide in which 6 million European Jews were killed by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi army. one of the most famous victims of the holocaust was Anne Frank, and mostly famous for her diary that was found after she was killed in a concentration camp. Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany. Anne Frank lived with her family in Amsterdam during World War II. Anne wrote down all of her thoughts and experiences into a journal. When she was 15 her family was found in the Secret Annex and sent to camps, where she was killed. Her diary was found and is now the second most read book next to the Bible.

For Anne’s 13th birthday her parents gave her a red checkered diary. She wrote to an imaginary friend, named Kitty. Her first entry reads, “I hope I will be able to confide everything to you, as I never been able to confide in anyone, and I hope you will be a great source of comfort and support.” Weeks later on July 5, 1942, Anne’s older sister, Margot, received an official summons to report to a Nazi work camp in Germany. On February 3, 1944, she wrote, “I've reached the point where I hardly care whether I live or die. The world will keep on turning on me, and I can't do anything to change events anyway.” Anne enjoyed writing about her life and her thoughts.
