The first year of life is crucial in establishing a foundation for all areas of development. During this time, infants go through many important milestones in a short period of time. They transition from infants who are completely dependent on adults to walking exploring communicating toddlers and as they continue to grow the exploration intensify. This is why it is proper supervision is conducted at all times in an early child care setting. In order to be developmentally appropriate for infants, infant child care center setting must include a handwashing sink with running heated water. This handwashing sink with the proper handwashing procedures will ensure proper handwashing to prevent the spread of bacteria and germs that can cause major illness.
