Congratulations on being admitted to pharmacy school. I am so proud of you! It is not an easy journey you are about to embark on, I must say. It takes courage and determination to make that bold step, but with time, you will realize you made the right decision that you will never regret. These will require you to get involved with the community and some issues related to public health. In view of these, there are some development in public health that I will like to inform you and how pharmacists play a vital role in helping alleviate some of the issues of public health. Public Health Professions have direct impact on the health of the population through patient assessment, policy making and inter-professional collaboration. However, there are some areas that pharmacy needs to expand in the community. These includes creating awareness at high school’s levels on health related topics especially drug related topics, tobacco use, alcohol abuse and family planning there by promoting health through educating the community. Another area is for pharmacists to effectively promote the profession using technology media. As you progress in the career you you will realize that pharmacist need to change with the way society is changing and embrace technology media. We have to fully integrate information technology into our professions, dispensing medications and delegate various pharmaceutical duties. These process will reduce their work load and create more avenue for one and one counselling with patients therefore meeting the needs of the
