A personal development plan is something everyone should have, having a plan helps us to keep track of our goals when we are advancing in our life. But what is a personal development plan? Stella Cottrell (2010) stated that “PDP refers to much more than career planning, although that is one important aspect of the initiative. It is about creating structured opportunities for students to develop a wider range of skills and personal qualities that will benefit them in life, work and study. These might include inter-personal skills, team work, problem-solving, self-management skills and similar skills. At its best, PDP develops rounded, reflective individuals who are responsible, emotionally mature, forward thinking, and capable of working well with others.” It also acts as a reminder to us, to remind us of our final objective and not to give up easily although the path might be challenging at times. Everyone has different aims and goals that they want to achieve. Therefore I have created my very own personal development plan which for 3 years, from this year, 2014 to 2018.

The things that we can gain through personal development is something invaluable that cannot be brought with money, as it is unique and different for each and every individual. Everyone should get started with their own personal development plan, as stated by Arthur Ashe, “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can”.
