Operating system keeps tracking files and directories on the disk and it also controls disk drive and printer. Operating system got many responsibilities and power as in large system. It work like a traffic controller it does not mix different program and user working at a same time, operating system does not let different program and user to interfere with one and other. Operating system in also responsible of security. Operating system ensures that the unauthorized user can not use or access computer. Software platform is also been provided by operating system.
