The Ideal Protein diet is a low-carbohydrate, low-calorie, and high protein diet. The process involves training the body to live off of its own fat reserves. The Ideal Protein diet focuses on carbohydrates, protein, and fat reserves, which is where the body gets its energy from. Peoples bodies use up the supply of its carbohydrate reserves and will then turn to the protein and fat reserves for energy. A diet that includes carbohydrates can prevent weight loss in individuals. Therefore the Ideal Protein Diet restricts carbohydrates until people reach their weight loss goal. “Because as long as sugar is being consumed, the body may not be burning fat” (Ideal protein weight loss method, 2012).
