Not only due to the actual work that is completed once a degree is completed, but the work it takes as a student to get there. It is important that health care professionals be honest, dependable, willing to learn, patient, responsible, and caring, among other countless qualities. The courses that Ivy Tech Community College requires to obtain this degree are anatomy and physiology, English composition, medical terminology, college algebra, psychology or sociology, a communications course, orientation and patient care, radiographic positioning and lab, radiographic clinical education, radiation physics and equipment operation, image production and evaluation, radiobiology and radiation protection, pharmacology and advanced procedures, and general exam review. An Associate's of Applied Science with a focus in Radiologic Technology is a total of seventy four credit hours, which is a total of seven semesters. It is important for technologists to be detailed oriented because they must be able to follow price instructions from physicians. Due to the fact that patients may be under stress, be in extreme pain, or mentally stressed, it is important that health care professionals be able to put patients at ease to obtain usable images. Often times, radiologic technologists are required to mix chemicals that are either introduced to their patient's blood stream via an IV or their patient consumes it orally, therefore they need to have good math skills. Health care professions are often physically demanding, consequently radiologic technologists need to have physical stamina. This profession requires the ability to operate complex machinery on a daily basis, so a worker's technical skills need to be able to match those
