Everyone knows who Batman is. Batman has many different monikers, from “The Dark Knight” to “Gotham's White Light” He is the hero of Gotham City. However, he is not the perfect superhero. Whenever he is fighting a villian such as the Joker and Bane, his methods are unorthodox to the average superhero. The way Batman fights crime, destroying the enviroment to do whatever it takes to stop the villian, and involving collateral damage, makes him a failed hero.
Batman's vengance starts out in Batman Begins. As a young boy, Bruce witnessed his parents getting killed by Joe Chill, and wanted to seek vengance against him. As he plots to kill Chill, Chill is killed by one of Carmine Falcone's, the Gotham mob boss, henchman. Bruce seeks to fight Falcone, but is jumped by his henchman. He decides to join the League of Shadows in order to learn martial arts.
After his training with the League of Shadows, Ra's al Ghul, the leader of the League of Shadows, tells Bruce to destroy Gotham. Bruce refuses, and destroy the League and Shadows, burning down their headquarters. Although the League of Shadows was an evil organization, Batman betrayed them.
“Bruce Wayne returns to a Gotham City that is mostly ruled by Falcone and begins plotting a one-man war against the corrupt system”. (Batman Begins Wiki) He goes out of his way to do whatever it takes to stop them. He breaks into Arkham Asylum to confront Jonathan Gray, who is a doctor that creates a toxin designed to go into Gotham's water supply. When the police officers of Gotham attempts to apprehend Batman show up, he fights them off and escapes in the Batmobile.
Later another colossal event in Batman Begins takes place when Batman fights Ra's al Ghul on a runaway train heading straight tow...

Although Batman is not the greatest superhero, he makes many sacrifices that many regular heroes would not make, such as taking the blame for Harvey Dent's death and saving Gotham from a nuke. He would go out of his way for the safety of Gotham at all costs. He cared more about the city than even his own multi-billon dollar company. Comissioner Gordon said that “he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now.” (The Dark Knight) Batman is the vigilante who, although he fights more for his own personal gain, cares more about the city of Gotham than everything.
