Considering my life time goals, I have always wanted a family and to be happy, but more than anything I want to redeem myself of past failures and prove that my existence on this earth is commendable. I have currently developed a sense of determination to become successful. In my current extracurricular activities and my most recent academic achievement, I am most certain that I will become the prosperous and flourishing woman I strive to be. For example, it did not hit me until my junior year that I needed to get my grades together. All of my close friends were being admitted into National Honor Society and I was left out. It made me feel dimwitted, as if I was frowned upon. “This is it,” I remember thinking to myself, “I am going to do better and do my absolute best.” I started with putting school first. Hanging out with friends and everything else became a privilege and reward for every good grade I made. Let me tell you, it is not easy. My auditory processing disorder has also prevented me from hearing important things that are helpful to my learning ability. I learned that I need to move myself to front of the classroom and focus. Each year has taught me something different, such as discipline, dedication and responsibility; qualities that will help me become the woman I want to be. Drill team is not just dancing, it’s about becoming a lady and knowing discipline and respect. As a freshman, the first thing we were told is to respect the seniors. All underclassmen had to say “yes ma’am” and clean up after upperclassmen. We were given demerits, a punishment of 44 high kicks, every time we were late, missing a clothing item, or did not follow a rule.
