“ From One Second To The Next”, A film by Werner Herzog, he repeats the quote “ It can wait” This quote describes how that one text can take lives of our loved ones with one blink. Throughout his film, he illustrates how we put innocent people in danger with our one mistake. He expresses the main point by using people who have suffered the pain of losing the life of their loved one. I agree with Herzog’s idea of a text that can be made later on instead of when you are driving. But I also disagree with the criminal system because it delivers a light sentence and does not deliver justice to the people who have grieved. In Werner Herzog’s film “ One Second To The Next”, instead of giving his opinions, he films perspectives of surviving victims and some families who have suffered from the tragic accidents caused by texting and driving. He al so shows how the offenders have been affected. There were three to four families interviewed who have been badly distraught with the major problem of driving and texting. In one scenario of the film an offender only paid the victim fifty thousand dollars, while the victim was billed over a million dollars. For this type of crime where families lose their loved ones, sentences should be stricter. Fines should be stricter if you are found on your phone while driving. There should be more approaches to reduce texting and driving that the government needs to come up with. I believe the offender should pay for all the extra costs that the victim has to endure. All they do is little bit of community service instead they should assist the family with their needs. Basically, the offender deserves harsher penalties for their wrongdoing. By making a sentence harsh it would have more influence on future generations about texting and driving. (PUT IN THE CURRENT
