During my secondary school days, I was the best student in Mathematics and Biology and as the senior girl (Head-girl). After completing my secondary school education in 2004, I got a job offer from the same school I graduated from, to teach Maths and Sciences. I was a very active full-time teacher in this school for four years; I participated in different extra-curricular activities such as leading the Jet club, inter-house sports and preparing students for competitions. In addition, I counselled and gave extra help to a lot of students struggling with their academies. This had a lot of immediate and long-term positive impact on many of the students. I was awarded teacher of the year twice.

In 2007, I secured a place in a University to train as a teacher and I had to choose one area of expertise, I chose to train as a Biology teacher at the cost of my beloved Mathematics as it was the nearest to studying medicine (the so-called ideal profession for any intelligent and smart lady in my society). This impressed the Lagos State Governor at that time (Ex-Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola) and he sponsored me to the UK for Master’s degree. At this time, I wish I could express my interest in Maths but, people around me advised that, this might make me lose the scholarship because the Governor’s plan was to make me the head of a department in the Ministry of the Environment. During my MSc at the University of Reading, all my presentations were always unintentionally relating to children and schools. My supervisors were quick to discover my unequivocal love for Teaching and they encouraged me to pursue it.
