John Green,the author of The Fault in our Stars,said,”Great books help you understand, and they help you feel understood”. Two stories that help you understand and feel understood are Freak the Mighty and Max the Mighty.
Freak the Mighty is written by the author Rodman Philbrick is about a kid named Max who has no friends because everyone thinks he is bad and he meets a kid named Kevin(Freak) who goes on adventures with Max. Rodman Philbrick also wrote Max the Mighty who after his best friend dies he meets a girl named Rachel(Worm) who goes with Max to find her dad in Chavery.There are many similarities and differences between Freak the Mighty and Max the Mighty such as Mood during the climax and Type of conflict during the exposition. This is important to know because the reader knows why Max and Freak’s relationship is so important because Freak goes from hating Max to him and Max are going on adventures together and are best friends.However, when Max and Worm are running from the police it is Character verse Society. In support of this,Max,the narrator,said, “We’re cutting through the backstreets,away from the flashing blue lights,trying to stay out of sight”(Philbrick 32).The quote shows that when Max and Worm are running from the police it is character verse society because a society is a group of people and the police department is a society. This is important to know so that the reader knows why Max and Worm are on the run.
