The book that I choose to read for the second quarter was The Mouse Rap. This book was written by Walter Dean Myers which was published in the year of 1990. The genre of The Mouse Rap is general fiction. I could not find a sub-genre, for this book. There are five main characters in this book and they are Mouse, Styx, Omega, Sheri, and also there is Beverly. Mouse is the main character in the story he is a guy that likes to play basketball, listen to music, and hang out with all of his friends. Styx is Mouse's best friend and he is a guy that also likes to play basketball, listen to music, and hang out with all of his friends just like mouse that's why they get along. Then there is Omega he is another friend of Mouse he likes to do the same things as Mouse and that Styx does, but he also likes to dance which he is good at it. Sheri, is just a girl that likes to hang out with her friends and also likes to dance just like Omega. Beverly likes to do the same things that Sheri likes to do.
Max Powers trusted people he thought were his “best friends”, but not all friends are best friends, as Max would soon find out. Max was blinded by the fact that he recently received a will of $12.4 million, due to a skydiving accident that resulted in his parent 's death. He didn’t even realize that his previous “best friends” (Dez Tenney,Chloe Goode,Beverly Hills, Ray Leetuff) were plotting to kill him and become millionaires themselves. Max hosted a housewarming party, at his new place in a very expensive neighborhood due to the fact that he recently received $12.4 million. Max invited Dez, Chloe, Beverly, and Ray because he considered these people to be his best friends, but what he didn 't know was his so called ¨best friends¨ only accepted
...ane just did not know how to show this at times that were tough for him. Killer Kane still is protective, cares about Max, and wants the best for him. When Killer Kane came back to see Max when he could have been arrested was showing he cared and loved Max enough to be arrested again right when he got out of jail. Killer Kane showed that he is protective of Max when Loretta tried to untie Max and Killer Kane snapped at her to not put her hands on his son. He showed that he wanted the best for Max when he said he wanted to start a life with Max. Killer Kane just wanted Max to have the father figure he needed in his life. Killer Kane listens, suggests, defends. Is patient, loving and loyal. He would do anything for Max, He wants the best for Max, and protects Max. In the novel, Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick Killer Kane is truly a loving father and he proves it.
In today's society there are lots of people that believe that dumb people can not accomplish anything in there whole life. From the book Freak the Mighty this point is proven wrong. Max and Kevin, are the two most important characters in Freak the Mighty, they can both be described as dynamic characters. Each of them goes through major changes that are revealed through their actions, and by what the author says about them. Maxwell embodies the archetype of the hero's journey. I will discuss this issue using the fact that he has a birth, a calling/journey, and a return.
It is evident that Max tries to escape his reality and get lost in a world where he can find freedom from his complex troubles, much like every other child in the world today whom does not know how to deal with such chaotic and complicated thoughts. Max, unknowingly comes face to face with all his emotions through the lives of others, helping him to come to an understanding in his escape. In the film “Where the Wild Things Are” Max’s sister ignores him, he feels his mothers new boyfriend is taking her from him and he is overall portrayed as a lonely, lost character. Max is told by his mother that he has gone out of control, which essentially is the last straw in initiating him to run away to where he eventually ends up where the wild things are. According to the article “Fantasy - Necessary for Sanity and Morality” in order for proper development, “A child needs to understand what is going on within his conscious self so that he can cope with that which goes on within his unconscious.” This can be attained by daydreaming through stories and scenarios to ...

There are many people that believe that working together can build a strong friendship. Kevin and Max go back to school. There, Max is mistaken for a giant, unintelligent, young boy until Freak says that Max knows the answers. Just that he is too shy to say them in front of the class. So, the teacher had him write down the answers to the problems and show them to her after class. She sees that Max is just as smart as everyone else, so then she lets Max move
More than likely, someone has walked in a public area and has seen somebody that does not look “normal.” How did they react once that person was seen? Did the person continuously stare? Point? Laugh? What did they call them? Most people call them freaks. That is the scientific definition for someone that may have a physical abnormality. These so-called freaks make up the storyline of the fourth season of the popular TV series: American Horror Story, Freak Show. Freak Show is set in Jupiter, Florida, and shows the desperate journey of survival from the dying breed of carnies in 1952. This show consists of diversity in gender roles that are discriminated and forced to be outcasts in society. Major baggage, insecurity, and many ironic situations
Many people struggle to be accepted in our world because of disabilities. Freak the Mighty, by Rodman Philbrick, is a dramatic and inspiring novel about how two boys, who are “different”, become friends and unite towards a common cause. Kevin, an eighth grader who lives with his mother Gwen, is one of the two protagonists in this extraordinary novel. Kevin is a very knowledgeable young boy who doesn't let his disability limit his abilities.
Also, he had received a nickname during daycare Kicker.“‘Hey you! Mutt and Jeff! Frankenstein and Igor! Don’t look around, I’m talking to you, boneheads. What is this, a freak show?’”(Philbrick 29). Tony D is the one who said this quote. He and his gang ganged up on Freak and Max at the carnival and of which they ended up in the millpond. Even though Max may seem like a giant, but he is very kind hearted and cares for everyone around him. For example, when Freak dies, Max runs through everyone he sees just to get to Freak. If a doctor was in his way they would have been crushed. Metaphorically of course. Another example is when Loretta Lee was being strangled Max save her by throwing himself onto his Father.
To understand the nature of Blackface performances and Freak shows throughout the years, one must understand the culture named today, popular (pop) culture, as the medium that brought light to these concepts, that once was in the dark. Danesi states the era, pop culture, gave rise to the people since the 1950's, regardless or class or education, to shape fashion, music, lifestyle, and other forms of entertainment today (2015). As a culture, members within form a unity of interest, in this case, it is shaped from media and technology. Ultimately, individuals gravitate towards a pop culture since the majority follow the trend, unfortunately, there is the side that American's are wanting

Freaks and Geeks is a show set back in 1980s over what life was like for the average high school teenager. The show goes over multiple dilemmas each episode that focus on two or more stereotypical teens in this time. The show focuses mainly on a pair of siblings named Lindsey and Sam. In this show you have your geek kids, like Sam, who are so awkward no one else talks to them. Then you have your so called “freaks” who aren’t afraid to get into trouble just for the fun of it, which is what Lindsey aspires to be like. While watching this show I have come to identify more with the geeks in this show rather than the freaks. More specifically, I would consider myself much like Lindsey’s younger brother Sam.
