Nelson Mandela once said, “ I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” This quote will be the surrounding configurations of this essay. These simple words do not only play a role into a human’s everyday life, but that of a role in the major political and social changes of that decade... that decade being the 1960’s. What are those major political and social changes in reference to? These alternations are in contact with the effects of the film industry and how those connections were and will be the major “rule breaking” films of the future solely in partnership with those films of that decade.

We shall start with 1960. No... we are not talking solely about the year of 1960, but rather the decade and how it changed, warped and manipulated the future. The 1960’s began as any other decade, so we thought. But our generations will never know how it was, because we never lived it. Our past generations can only share it, and sharing the past will most definitely make a path for the future. Now I, Johnny Walker am no lecturer, but when it comes to this particular decade of our past, I will share it to the fullest extent with heart-pounding, gut wrenching details to get the point across that the decade of 1960 was not just another decade, but a decade that every single American and human on this God-given Earth will remember.

So shall we begin?

1960... we shall start with the role of politics. Now a given fact that each of us should know is to not discuss politics over the dinner table, social gatherings, or times of grievance, but only through the words that come to the mind while writing essays of this way. ...

...with that quote because it shows that we are all equally the same, it is just how that man sitting beside you applies himself and how he uses the knowledge that he was given. In reference to film that same quote could come into place, just in a little different context. The films of yesterday ARE the films of today and the future films of tomorrow. Those ground breaking moments in history and the films of the decade of 1960 play a big role in the films of today. One particular film that was produced in 2013 was Mandela: A Long Walk to Freedom. This film was definitely in relations to the decade of 1960 because the people of South Africa were trying to free Nelson Mandela from prison. In conclusion, The films of the past like Cleopatra and West Side Story are definitely a positive outlook on films of our future and these films will help us grow in the film industry.
