I finish reading this book within a few days of the deadline due to the “last minute adrenaline rush”. The reason why I need the adrenaline rush is because of how slow the flow of the story was. So, get ready for the “Fast Track”, where faith and effort are discussed, which can transform you from a failure to a very influential global citizen with civic responsibilities within the “7 Spheres of Influence and Integration Model”. Faith was the mod theme of the book. Each chapter in the book contains a few quotes from the bible. Although, those quotes does not really make sense from a non-Christian point of view, since most of the quotes used does not flow with the writing. Moorer’s life that established his belief in God, but the main character would be his father. This can be observed on pages 61 and 62, when his father told him about a very difficult time when their family was short on cash, and God told Cleamon Moorer, Sr., after he had prayed that at noon the following day a customer will show up. The following day, two cars showed up at his workshop. The sincerity of the author’s father made him believe that God is a driving force in their lives. Another more hilarious yet pivotal God’s words through his father was a prophecy claiming that Dr. Moorer would meet his wife within 30 days. A non-religious reference that is quite difficult for me is located on the first three sentence of page 82. The ability to accept whatever it is that had happened in the past, specifically the many failures in life, is sometimes painful. The sprinter metaphor on page 55 helps in sprinting away from past failures to a future of success. This can be achieved by learning from mistakes and failure in order to not repeat the same unfavorable outcomes. However, living with the fact that you have failed before can haunt you until you manage to make peace with it. For me, the only way to make peace with any past mishap is to achieve a very huge success that can erase the ghost of the past, which can be seen with Dr. Moorer on page 13, where he said “The bad things that happened before in my life didn’t matter that much to me anymore. I was consumed with joy and excited about the good news.” In my current circumstance, that would be equivalent to graduate from engineering school and move on to the next phase of my life. Being a rebel since childhood, I love stories that showed that there are more than one ways to achieve something. “Fast Track” described how different Dr. Moorer’s pathway of becoming a professor through unconventional means. For example, on page 100, he furthered his academic career by undergoing a new, untested PhD/DBA program. The only reason for his gamble
