Gymnastics is a sport. You can compete it. When you see gymnastics on TV, you might think wow, that’s so cool. But life of a gymnast can not always be easy. There are different ways to get to the high bar. You can jump to the high bar from the low bar, or jump from a springboard. Beam What is a beam?

A beam has a leather cover. It is about four inches wide, and 16.4 feet long. You can raise or lower it based on your height. You can do flips, turns, jumps and leaps on a beam.

Floor What is a floor?

Most gymnastics floors are made of spring, rubber foam and plywood. This creates a spring floor and makes it easier to tumble on. An Olympic floor should be 39.37 feet by 39.37 feet. The distance between one corner from the other is 55.68 feet. You can do flips, turns, leaps, jumps and much, much more.
