Ever met someone who raises poultry and goats for show? Or someone who aspires to turn social media use into a career? Read on, and now you have! Though, as a college student, academics are my first priority, but that does not stop me from being involved and pursuing my passions outside of the classroom! Not only am I involved in extracurricular activities, but community service and other projects as well when I am not in class. Growing up around animals, when I had the opportunity to join the Future Farmers of America (FFA) in high school, I took it and began developing my passion for agriculture at a young age. I am also a longtime member of a 4-H club as well, where I had even more opportunities to explore the agriculture industry. I am still a member of FFA, as we are allowed to be members in college if we are involved in agriculture to pursue our American Degree, an award given for at least five years of agriculture and FFA involvement for five years before age 21. In addition to FFA, I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa at my college, serve as a Youth Ambassador promoting the Florida State Fair, and am a member of the Junior Board of the Central Florida Fair as a collegiate student where I help to plan activities for the fair’s activities throughout the year that are helping me give back to the agricultural community and develop my skills in agricultural
Many students who are enrolled in FFA are already heading in the right direction to a bright future. FFA has many career benefits within the program. Any of the career development events (CDE’s) have something that will tie to a career in agriculture or to a career of other sorts. According to the National FFA Organization, “FFA members embrace concepts taught in agricultural science classrooms nationwide, build valuable skills through hands-on experiential learning and each year demonstrate their proficiency in competitions based on real-world agricultural skills”(“Statistics”). There are so many careers that tie into FFA, and many of them have to do with agriculture. Not every career that has to do with agriculture is about farming. Currently, I am in Circle K International and HOSA. The reason why I chose to join Circle K International because I love to do services within the community, learn about fellowship, and apply my leadership skills. Right now, I am the finance chair for Single Service Committee in Circle K International. I join HOSA because I want to continue my HOSA experience from high school and experience the HOSA life at the collage level.
Next year, as I embark my first year at university, I hope to fully integrate myself into the community by getting involved in the Students' Union, joining the cheer team, volunteering where I can and making many new friends along the way. At university, I hope to maintain a high grade point average, granted that my education is extremely important to me and that I am extremely ambitious about achieving my goals.Therefore, I will commit lots of my time to my studies in hopes of being a successful student. Nevertheless, I am still looking forward to being a part of the community by devoting my extra time to helping those around me. In classes, I intend on being an active learner, a respectful student, and a helpful classmate; someone who is always willing to lend a hand to others. Through engaging in my community, I hope to bring joy to others around me by spending my time supporting local events, volunteering for fundraisers, and helping plan and organize campus activities.
There are a lot of reasons why I chose to pursue pharmacy as my career and they all point to the most important reason: pharmacy is a great fit for my life and is something I have become increasingly passionate about. It started when I was researching careers with my parents and my dad suggested pharmacy and, simply put, it sparked my interest because at the time it was one of the few things I thought I would not hate doing. A healthcare career has always been where I put myself in the future, mainly because most of my family members are in the healthcare field. However, I have never been one that could directly help the wounded or deal with anything gory, but am very intrigued by the growing science of pharmacy. As I continue exploring pharmacy, the more I enjoy learning about it and feel like I could excel in this career.
Soaked under sweat, I stood on the running machine, took a deep breath, and counted in my mind, one…two… three, GO! With renewed power and confidence, I started to run again with satisfaction. This moment happened every day in last summer at a gym and I lost 62pounds. Had persisted for five months, I am so proud of myself that I am able to achieve the goal of losing weight and established high self-discipline. In addition, I have gained great appreciation for the challenges. However, I also have grown up from this, on the other hand, frustrated experience. Not because the process of losing weight was painful, but because my by-product of the weight loss journey, my online team.
When you tell me what does it mean to be a Winner FFA Chapter member? I see a person who is willingly to always try new things. I know a certain student who convent me to join FFA this year. This student and other people who are in FFA will always be doing different stuff. It doesn’t matter if it from helping wild life to helping people who are homeless. I know for certain last year the people in FFA, went to Sioux Falls, where free food was serve for people who can’t afford their next meal. The FFA members help out with severing out the food to people, while there, they realize a lot of people go on without meals for long time. They decided to find way, where people will help out and give out some free food.
Whoosh!A bed whizzed by, surrounded by about 6 medical personnel. “What’s going on?” I thought immediately with apprehension. I knew whatever was happening it was not ideal. Ensuring I was not in the way, I stood on my toes to see what demanded so much attention. To my astonishment, I saw a coin sized hot-pink little girl. She could not have been bigger than two quarters lying side by side.She was struggling! Even with all the procedures the doctors were executing to save her life, she was performing the most work.
Although I am a fairly well-rounded student outside of school, I focus on the passions I am adept at: art and music. Creativity and thinking outside the box are skills that I have possessed and have developed over the years. It gives me great joy when I use my artistic and musical talents for the benefit of others, such as playing the piano and violin at a dinner honoring senior citizens or drawing pictures for young children at a Bible camp. Over the years I have been very involved in my community and school. Being a part of something helps to define who you are as a person and the principles and values you hold as important. A personal experience that helps to show my talents and skills can be illustrated by my trip to Italy last April with the MHS Language Department.
My extracurricular activities and groups that I belong to fall into the two main areas of my life that I am passionate about: community service and technology/science. I have always wanted to give back to my community because it is the community that has enabled me to be fortunate enough to have opportunities such as these where I can contribute, learn, and grow as a young adult. I have pursued a number of organizations devoted towards giving back and servicing my local community. Those organizations include: Boy Scouts of America, SMYLE youth group (Saint Margaret's Church), and Peer Advocates (Madison Youth and Family Services). The DHHS Tech Club, and the DHHS Hacking Club are the two main technology organizations that I take part in and also have active leadership roles in.
My perseverance has prepared me for a career in medicine. The path towards becoming a physician can be long and challenging, necessitating the ability to endure. My ability to bounce back from setbacks and mistakes has solidified throughout my journey. One of the cornerstone experiences of my personal development occurred during high school. My determination led to me my graduating as valedictorian of my class, while balancing three varsity sports and several extracurricular activities. In addition, I worked on weekends to help support my family financially. This persistence resulted in scholarship awards that made higher education a possibility.
Since the beginning of my academic endeavors, I have long cherished a dream to be a member of the social science research community, which gives our society progressive insights into human ecology. I began my undergraduate studies at Ramapo College of New Jersey with a passion for ecological justice and with the intention of majoring in environmental studies. Ramapo College’s progressive liberal arts foundation provided me with ample room to explore the multifarious array of social science courses. As I took more social science courses, however, my understanding of human social groups underwent a metamorphosis. As a result, I decided to pursue a degree in Social Science, with minors in the two fields I felt most passionately interested in, Women’s Studies and African American Studies.
I 'm involved in numerous extracurricular activities that will help me achieve my goals. For example, I am the current treasurer of (FBLA) The Future Business Leaders of America, Member of (DECA) it 's an international association for marketing that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in finance, hospitality and management. As a way to return something to the community, I have been involved in ecological activities such as beach cleaning programs and reforestation brigades. Environment is always something of my concern, I try to promote a culture of recycling wherever I go. In my spare time I enjoy of music, photography and poetry. I have always been a keen sportsman, representing my school in many sporting activities. I love swimming, but my first passion is martial arts, these in combination with my experience studying at a navy high school has made me develop strong discipline and an unbreakable spirit.
The multitudes of extracurricular and academic activities I participate in were chosen because of their focus on my interests. I want to pursue a career in computer engineering and/or biological engineering. In order to help me accomplish this I carefully consider how extracurricular and academic activities will assist me in the future. Currently I am participating in several rigorous academic courses such as AP Physics C and AP Calculus BC to gear me towards a college environment, as well as a variety of clubs that focus on engineering and the sciences. A vast majority of the classes I take are advanced placement, which gives me the chance to obtain college credit before entering college. Advance placement classes also challenge me with faster paced instruction, which prepare me for the speed and difficulty of college level courses. I am currently taking AP Biology, AP Computer Science A, , AP Literature and Composition, AP U.S. Government and Politics, Pre-AP Chinese IV, and Honors Independent Research. In terms of extracurricular activities, I currently participate in the Stock Market Club, Science and Engineering Club, our school’s FRC team, and Chinese Club. In my free time I enjoy building computers, putting together parts lists for computers, programming, playing video games, and learning about various technical jobs and new computing technologies such as server administrator and quantum computing.
