When I was a little girl, I remember going over to my grandmother’s house, and as soon as I walked in I heard the sizzling in the pans and smelled the herbs throughout the house. I would always study the way she would use her techniques that her mother taught her. She would let me help her make anything no matter how much of a mess I would cause or if I poured too much of something. For example, when I helped her make a cake for my mother’s birthday she gave me wonderful tips for the perfect layer cake. The simple tips such as making sure that all of your ingredients are at room temperature or using simple syrup to keep the cake moist. The little things she taught me made me the cook that I am today.
Once I began middle school, I took classes on cooking; I discovered almost ‘immediately’ that I loved the Culinary arts. Once I entered high school I took foods one and two a high school representative came in to talk about the Art Institute and what it had to offer. As soon as I entered I was greeted with wonderful staff. I was able to get a private tour the day of and talk to the chefs about what inspired them to start Culinary and why they wanted to teach. The school made me feels welcomed, like I was meant to be there. The instructors at the school wanted to know about me and were intruded to why I began cooking in the first place. It expressed how much they care and compassion they take into the students. What I loved overall about the school is they have a lot of hands on experience; you’re not just sitting in a classroom and reading from a textbook. You spend most of your week in the kitchen working with the chefs. At that point it was clear to me that I would be able to accomplish my goals with your
