Animal Hoarding We humans have wonderful lives, realize it or not, which is good because being able to pursue happiness as long as it doesn't harm others is a right. This rule doesn't only apply to humans though. Pet lives should be thought of too, and one of the biggest problems that violates their rights is animal hoarding. This is an interestingly hard to catch crime that involves an individual who has more animals than he or she can care for. It's not hard to catch because you can't spot them, but because 48 out of 50 states don't have a law that can easily prosecute animal hoarders. While the government sits back and lets smaller organizations deal with the problem, insane people continue to ruin animals lives by making them live in their own feces and urine. We must set up a law in order to stop this horribly inhumane action, for without it, too many animals will continue to perish. These pets live worse lives than those animals living in the wild, which is saying something. Victims of animal hoarding live in cages their entire lives, where they urinate and defecate on the floor, the carpet, and on themselves. There is nothing else to say. They live in their own insane denial that their animals are healthy, cared for, and loved, even though it's clearly visible that that is not the case. The owners are usually isolated from the community and are way too passionate about animals. A lot of the time it starts as a harmless love of animals, and they decide that animals would be safer under their own care, so they serve as rescue shelters for those animals that have been neglected, abused, etc. Little do they know that they're actually dooming them to a worse life. The government clearly doesn't see this going on and if they do, they are most certainly not going to do anything about
We consider our animals like our family. Even if the animal does not belong to us, we always try to feed them and help them when they are in need. The Walls family doesn’t even take care of their own pets that they have had for a long time. They abused their animals, and today there are laws that could get them fined or arrested. "61-8-19. Generally when shelters can no longer locate homes for animals they can no longer keep due to overpopulation, the first and simplest option that comes to mind is to euthanize them. Animals are overpopulated, and it is costing countries money to euthanize, or use chemicals kill animals with a shot, animals. Money is also being taken for shelters to operate. To help get a good idea on what pet overpopulation is and how it's a problem, some ideas need to be explored. We need to know the major factors behind pet overpopulation and cause it to perpetuate. We need to know pet overpopulation's larger, over reaching effects and the scale of the problems pet overpopulation causes. Many people at one point or another have flipped through the channels on the television and stumble across one of those television shows about hoarding pausing long enough to be appalled and wonder how they could let things get that bad. Hoarding is a mental disorder affecting millions of individuals, both young and old no matter their social status. Individuals with this disorder show a lack of awareness to the seriousness or severity of their behavior, resisting help that is offered them, and many times treatment is unsuccessful because they fail to follow through with their treatment.
Animal hoarding is an issue in every division of society around the world (Donaghey 2011). Whether rich or poor, there may still be an animal hoarder living right next door (Donaghey 2011). In some situations there may be obvious signs that a person is a hoarder; however, others live seemingly regular lives to the public eye and the problem is growing. Animal hoarding is a growing problem because of the lack of understanding of the issue and lack of action.
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 7.6 million companion pets enter animal shelters across the United States each year, nearly evenly disrupted between dogs and cats . These animals are abandoned for reasons including families no longer being able to care for them (sickness/death of an owner), to families not wanting them (the novelty wearing of the animal wearing off), to the animals being born into puppy mills to finally animals that are loved being lost from their owners. These animals do not understand what is happening to them and rely on the kindness of humans to provide for them in shelters until their forever home can be found.

Every day in the United States animals are beaten, neglected, or forced to struggle for survival. Animals are left behind without anybody to care for these poor animals; they’re left with no food or water and left with no hope of survival. Some animals get lucky and get rescued giving them the chance to be loved again from others and showing them that they are people out there that do care; but in some cases some animals aren’t as lucky. Some are killed, or some die because of their unsanitary conditions every day. Animals do not deserve this kind of life style were they are abused and neglected they should feel safe and love and for this reason is why people should stop animal cruelty. Animal cruelty makes animals suffer when hurt; cause owners to abandoned there animals and left homeless and also causes some animals to be put into dangerous situations.
Anyone, who visits an animal shelter, as I do, sees an extraordinary number of beautiful, affectionate, and desperate dogs and cats. The majority of animals in any particular shelter are dogs, usually adults, for whom there aren't enough adoptive homes waiting. A few may have come from responsible breeders, whose owners do not realize that the breeder will take them back,many are those who are lost, and/or from owners who simply got tired of them. Some are pet shop puppies from a puppy mill that did not meet the owner's expectations due to health, temperament, or other reasons. A large number usually turn out to be the result of deliberate and irresponsible home breeding. These people are known as "back-yard breeders." And that is not a compliment.
In every community in the U.S., there are animals sitting in shelters waiting for homes. Millions of domestic pets, every year, millions are put down at animal shelters across the country. Although a problem with aggressive pet behavior is the main reason animals are put into shelters, stray pets are the result of breeding by roaming, unaltered pets. The more pets that are spayed or neutered, the fewer pets that will be put down. One of the most overlooked social issues in our society is simply the abuse of animals. In our society today most animal abuse victims are dogs followed by cats and other animals. In our society today many people look at animals as property and possessions. Even though legally there are yours people in this society need to understand that animals are breathing organisms that have life and feelings just like we do. So we need to try to help everyone in different communities understand what animal abuse is and when they are doing it, knowingly and unknowingly.

Hoarding often creates such cramped living conditions that homes may be filled to capacity, with only narrow pathways winding through stacks of clutter. Some people also collect animals, keeping dozens or hundreds of pets often in unsanitary conditions” (Mayo Clinic). Hoarding seems to be a growing problem that affects millions of people in the United States today. It can affect anyone, ranging from a thirteen year- old child anywhere to an eighty year- old. Behind every problem, is a cause and consequences that go along with it. Unless you are a hoarder yourself, you may not fully understand what exactly causes someone to become a hoarder, the consequences that may arise from having your life affected by hoarding, or the possible solutions that are out there to help over come this compulsive disorder.

Many people who abuse animals do not realize that they are actually hurting animals, this is known as unintentional. When some people try to discipline their pets they use tactics that they think is acceptable, when in reality is probably not the best way. People also abuse animals due to lack of attention, such as forgetting to feed and water the animals for a number of days. A family may take the animals with them when they leave the house, and forget to leave a window down with the animal inside. One of the biggest unintentional ways of animal cruelty is a way that many people think is helpful but is actually has a negative impact on all of the animals involved, this idea is trying to take in more animals than one can handle, they have good intentions but this is harmful to animals because it forces them to live in unhealthy conditions. There are many new cases of animal hoarding every year, with over 250,000 animals falling victim. Puppy mills are large dog breeding’s that care more about making money than the wellbeing and health of the animals. Many dogs become ill with diseases such as kidney or heart disease as a result of the conditions in which they live.
