The definition of bullying uses broad statements to define the actual meaning. Because of this, people may view the definition differently than others. Bullying can range from physical violence to verbal abuse to even cyberbullying. Most people do not realize how common cyberbullying actually is. Over half of teens and adolescents have been bullied online and almost the same number have engaged in the bullying (“Cyber Bullying Statistics”). If you are not familiar with the word Cyberbullying, it is a is when an individual is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another individual using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies.But yet again I bring the point that schools should not limit the amount of students online speech. Schools must protect students’ First Amendment rights but also maintain the learning environment and safety at school. The act of bullying has been present in children’s life throughout time. It has been seen in movies, books, and even real life situations. In recent years there has been in increase in the use of technology and the Internet. As a result a new type of bullying has been introduced to today’s generation of teenagers. This new type of bullying is known as cyberbullying. Cyberbullying has a negative impact on the lives of the teenagers that experience it.
Usually the bullying does not start on the internet, but after an incident occurs in person, the bully relentlessly attacks the victim on line. In 2003 a cyberbullying victim hanged himself and despite all of the evidence, no charges were filed because at that time “no criminal law applied to the circumstances or especially catered to protecting cyberbullying victims†(nobullying.com). The bullying in this case started at school and continued outside of school on social media. According to nobullying.com, the side effects of cyber bullying include not wanting to go to school, a sharp drop in grades and performance, skipping school, sudden self-esteem issues and even the use of alcohol or drugs. Herein lies the problem, one person’s free speech is not more important than another person’s education and metal and physical well-being. In an ideal world, there would be no bullying, but in a case of conflict the parents could step in and help children reach a resolution. In the real world, parents have been found guilty of cyberbullying children too and therefore cannot be counted on alone to monitor this issue. Schools

Adolescents in today’s society face a lot more conflict in their personal lives than more people aware of. Bullying has become a vast issue in some people’s lives. Bullying involves the negative and hurtful interaction between two people. One or both tear down self-esteem and self-confidence of the other. Internet usage in children and adolescents has been increasing in a steadily fashion in the past number of years and with the increase in internet usage, a new form of bullying has developed – Cyber bullying. Cyber bullying can be defined as “the electronic posting of mean-spirited messages about a person,” (Merriam-Webster, 2012). This form of bullying can come through various mediums including but not limited to text messages, emails, videos, and social networking sites. There is an overwhelming amount of information that defines cyber bullying, identifies the demographics of bullies and victims of cyber bullying, and identifies the outcomes of cyber bullying on victims. More focus needs to be placed on who the perpetrators of this form of violence are and how this form of violence is linked to traditional bullying. This will allow researchers and practitioners to move forward with research and implementation preventative methods and intervention once the problem has already occurred.
Cyberbullying is a new form of bullying that follows students from the hallways of their schools to the privacy of their homes. Many victims of cyberbullying are bullied 4 from the moment they wake up and check their cell phone or e-mail, to the time they go to bed and shut off their computer or cell phone. Cyberbullying is bullying or harassment that happens online and more difficult to stop because you need to have all the evidence saved to prove it happened. Cyberbullying is nothing to mess around with if a kid is being cyberbullied you need to get that taking care of before it gets any worse.
Many people would voice that bullying is, in fact wrong. Calling someone out of their name, and abusing them physically, doesn’t actually improve yourself. The major effect of bullying, is after the bully has gained ego points, the victim is left changed. Cyberbullying is the start of a new type of bullying.
All around the United States, the prevalence of cyberbullying ranges from 10-40% of people who get bullied through electronics. Furthermore, this is a problem caused by kids, teens, and adults who target one another online by repeating harmful threats and harassments. This conflict negatively impacts the victims’ life which is why anyone who cyberbullies should pay the consequences and be prosecuted.

Cyberbullying is a type of bullying that takes place with the use of any electronic technology. Cyberbullying is a major problem affecting young people today. There are different types of cyberbullying. This topic comes as an interest to many people these days because bullying is very common and it can ruin a person’s life. These days, cyberbullying is considered a new form of bullying. It can happen over the internet by computer, mobile phone or any other electronic devices. Cyberbullying could involve any form of unpleasant words or pictures being displayed on the internet for others to see. It could also involve the spreading of lies about the victim on the internet.
