There are hundreds, if not thousands, of rappers in the United States. If one scrolled through the list of all rappers in the US, he/she would not recognize more than, at the most, 10% of the names on the list. Why is that? Why are there so many names on the list, but many of their names are not familiar to the majority of people? This is because, they are not considered, “great.” While there are many rappers, to be considered a “great.” Consequently he/she must possess three very important qualities, that all successful rappers hold. One of the many skills a rapper must possess in order to be considered great, is the ability to tell stories in their lyrics. A well known example of a rapper who does this in many of his songs is J Cole. J Cole proved time and time again with songs that his strong storytelling skills will never fade. After all, what is rap without good rhymes? One rapper whose name is worth mentioning for his rhyming skills is Eminem. Even his haters can not disagree that Eminem has some pretty impressive rhyming skills. Some songs that show this are, “No Love,” “Marshall Mathers,” and “Just Don’t Give a F*ck.” But Eminem is not the only rapper out there with admirable rhyming skills. MGK is also a good example. MGK stands for Machine Gun Kelly, and he is known for his spitfire lyrics. MGK has shown his listeners in his songs like “Wild Boy,” and “Mind of a Stoner,” how masterful his skills are at rhyming. Which is why he is as popular as he is today. Another rapper who deserves recognition in this matter is Busta Rhymes. His songs like “Break Ya Neck,” and “Dangerous,” and “Sobb story,” demonstrate his skill with rhyming.
