Sir Elton John has created a large impact on society because of his advocacy towards AIDS and HIV. His creation of the Elton John AIDS Foundation has created a large amount of awareness for those suffering from the disease. He has helped numerous people and created a new foundation for gay artists. Sir Elton John has had a large impact on history in the LGBT community by fighting aids and HIV, supporting gay rights, and procuring funding.
Elton used the piano as a way to escape his troubles as a boy. He started music lessons at three years old. Elton John was relatively gifted in music. With hard work and dedication, he was soon the best in his year at school. He was relatively chubby and lonely as a boy and rarely had friends. (Michael J. Tyrkus, Michael Bronski)
Elton John had struggled with Cocaine addiction and it affected his worldview. He was very self-centered before meeting a boy that was suffering from AIDS. This boy opened John’s eyes to what the errors of his ways were. After getting clean he realized that he needed to do something to help the people who were suffering. Elton John had suffered from addiction, which allowed him to help Eminem. Another notable impact was winning the Brit Icon Award. Elton John was the first recipient of this award in 2013.
