The Egyptian afterlife is one of the most interesting pieces of history we have discovered. In this essay, you will be learning about how the Egyptian people prepared their civilians for the afterlife, the steps in making the tomb. Also you will be learning about why the body, tomb and and course (the judgement) for the afterlife was done. It was a very extensive procedure to prepare someone for the afterlife and the tombs that they prepared. To begin, the procedure to prepare the egyptians for the afterlife took about 6 months. Some people would plan how they would die before coming even close to the grim reaper. The main part of the action was the mask and the wrapping of the body. It was not cheap either, usually it took almost four months Also, the judgement was was a key part in the deceased going into the afterlife. To start off, the preservation of the body was called mummification. The egyptians were put in tombs for this procedure. The body was always preserved in the best way possible. They would prepare the body so that the human was best prepared for the afterlife, they were wrapped in ways that best ensured preservation. Some bodies were wrapped enough to span half a mile. On the tombs were objects or ideas that were special to the person. Tombs were made in the ways that best suited the person. Whether it was the shape of the chamber or on the outer part. Another part, perhaps the most important was the judgement. The Gods of the egyptian people would take the body and weigh it compared to the feather of truth. If the body was too heavy with sin, the body would die a second death and never reach the afterlife. However, if the body was lighter than the feather, it would continue onto the afterlife. The ancient egyptian civilization will go down in history as one of the most successful and powerful empires ever. The certain traditions that they used give us a different idea on how other people portray the afterlife. For example, the prestige steps in wrapping the body, or how they go into the afterlife.
