Edith Archibald born in St. Johns Newfoundland in 1854 and died in Halifax Nova Scotia 1936. Edith would be a good canidate for prime minster because shes a woman who helped people in poverty, she made it so women in Nova Scotia could vote, and was part of red cross to help people withmedical care. Edith was a very influential person from people in poverty to people right up to goverment. Edith was the president of the Maritime WCTU (Woman's Christian Temperance Union), The WCTU helped women in poverty, women involved with domestic abuse. They even had support to get men to stop drinking alcohol. Getting the rights for women to vote in Nova Scotia was a big deal for Edith and she wasn't going to give up till everyone had equal rights. She pushed Canadians to fight for better healthcare, more responsible goverment, and safer communities. She had 2,000 followers behind her to support her beliefs of fighting for women to have the right to vote. In 1918 Edith took action her first year of being in Halifax to get the right for nova scotian women to be able to vote, but they lost the first battle, but that didn't discourage edith and her followers, she kept fighting and being proactive to make sure that they won the next battle. But later on that year they finally won the fight and women could vote in Nova Scotia. Edith took things seriously when it came to her peoples rights and never gave up. Medical care is something Edith pushed very much among her people, so that being said she took part in Redcross and was the vice president for awhile.
