Digital Video is everywhere but people don’t recognize the importance of the video in today’s society. It has been used in various ways to help form the industry. Digital Video has had a fast-paced history, has a variety of uses, and it helps with education.

Digital History:
Digital video is a type of digital recording system that works by using a digital rather than an analog video signal. It was used for the ease of sharing and storing, no degradation of data quality when copied, being easy and inexpensive copying, and its capacity for multicasting.
In the later 70s to the early 80s, multiple types of video production equipment that were digital were introduced. Some examples are time base correctors (TBC) and digital video effects (DVE) units. Digital video was first introduced commercially in 1986 by Sony with D1 format. D1 format was mainly used by television networks and component-video capable video studios.
Sony and Ampex released the D2 format in 1988. D2 was used in the 1980s and the 1990s with TV industries. PACo: The PICS Animation Compiler, was one of the first digital video programs to run on computers.

Uses of Digital Video:
Thousands of places use digital video, from marketing to education, digital video can be used to express the way society works.
Every big industry uses some sort of digital media to increase the amount of people that go to their store or what their newest product is. A company’s commercials, websites, social networking pages, and much more are digital media. Without digital media, a business would fail.
