According to Oxford Dictionary, hope is defined as a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. However, it is so much more than that. Hope is the light in the chasm of darkness. When a person falls down, hope gives the person strength to get back up. Hope pushes people to strive for their goals. Regardless of who it is, hope has impacted everyone in one way or another. Anyone who wants to get out of a dark time or depressing situation needs and deserves hope. Hope is truly a precious thing. “It’ll be a nice change,” my mother rationalized ,”We’ll live in a different house.” “Why are we moving?” I inquired. “Yeah,” my brother whined,”I like Arizona.” “My job got relocated,” my father said simply. “Cheer up,” my mother said, seeing our dismayed faces,”you’ll get to make new friends.” I had never felt so miserable in my whole life. Regardless of our protests, within a month we were packed and shoving our boxes into the huge moving truck. I watched my old house slip away for the last time. I stared out the window and watched as the sand turned into green grasses. The temperature decreased from a hundred degrees fahrenheit to a seventy. Every mile we went it felt like the weight of the past got lighter and lighter. By the time my family and I got to California, I began to have hope that we could start over. Hope is having faith that things will get better. After my grandmother died, I had lost hope that life would ever go back to normal. However, after we moved, I regained hope. Hope has influenced me to see the brightest in any situation. Hope impacted me by making me strive for my goals. This experience also taught me that everyone needs and deserves hope.
