A True Friendship
What comes to your mind when you think of a friend? Is it someone you see on a daily basis? Someone you have some fun conversations with? Just a little advice, not everybody you think is your friend is actually your friend. Nowadays, people use the term “friend” for anybody they have social interactions with, but there is a huge difference between your so called “friends” and a real friendship.
In a true friendship, your friend should be somebody who will always be there for you, no matter what goes on in both of your lives. They’re the person you could rely on when you’re going through a rough time, or you for them when they go through something rough. You know that no matter what you do, they’ll have your back, trying to help you out and trying their best to see what you’re going through through your point of view. They’re the person who you know will never judge you or make fun of you even when you’ve just made the dumbest decision ever, truly trying their best to help you no

You’ll be able to trust them to keep all your secrets, good and bad. You’ll trust them enough to take your deepest, darkest secrets and keep them safe. Although some secrets aren’t to joke about, knowing somebody's secrets opens a door to a whole new world of teasing and inside jokes. You’ll both have access to little inside jokes that only to two of you will know, and that just makes your time together all the more fun. One of the best feelings in a true friendship is when you’re going to make a joke and you look to your friend realizing that they thought the exact same thing that you did and you both just laugh before even making the joke because you both read each other’s minds and already know what was going to be said. That feeling of joy knowing that somebody else is this world thinks exactly like you is probably one of the best and rarest things to find. A connection like this can’t just be made with
To me, being a good friend is staying by their side, even if they do something you do not like. Also, a good friend would back you up and do whatever they can get others to see you for who you really are, not just for that one bad thing you might have done. Though some may argue that in Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, George was being a good friend to Lennie by making his death as painless as possible, but it is proven that he in fact was not being a good friend to Lennie when George kills him because Lennie is his best friend and being all he has, George is going to now suffer that loss and Lennie did not kill her because he was trying to be mean it was just a bad accident.
By definition a friend is a person who provides assistance and support. We have different groups of friends for different purposes in our lives. Although there are many different categories of friends, Marion Winik author of “What are Friends For?” mentions that some of the more common groups consist of the faraway, work, family, and former friends (132). We keep our friends because we value their loyalty, communication, support, and dependability.
According to all three sources, a friendship is having honesty and vulnerability to be happy in a relationship. Just as May stated, a friendship is sharing emotions to the point where the borders of our lives become less clear with that of a friend’s. “They shape us and create other dimensions through which to see the world”. True friends give you different perspectives of the world, they share their opinions with you and you share yours with them. They help you to live the best life possible.
A friendship is a bond shared with another person, typically of common interests. A friend is honest, loyal, faithful, and trustworthy. It's someone you can share secrets, memories, fears, and dreams with. They stand by you despite arguments or disputes that might arise. In Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck speaks of the advantages and pitfalls to a friendship.
A friendship is something that everyone wants and desires but what few fail to realize is that there are so many different types of friendships and although they all may be great ones, there’s one that is essential to the soul. Before one can have an ideal friendship, we should have a clear understanding of what a friendship is. As stated in out notes in class, a friendship is a state of mutual affection to one another. That basically means the two of you share similar ideas and or passions that leads into constant surroundings of each other witch then leads to a connection or friendship.
What is your definition of a true friend? Well, to me, a true friend is someone who understands you, accepts you for who you are, and is willing to do anything for you. While reading John Steinbeck’s classic, Of Mice and Men, George and Lennie maintain a true friendship despite all the ups and downs they encounter. After Lennie Small, a man as gigantic as a mammoth with a pea-sized brain, is caught touching a girl’s dress in the town of Weed, he and his best friend, an average migrant worker, George Milton, travel a strenuous journey to the town of Soledad and start working on a ranch. The young men come to realize that they have a true, brotherly bond and nothing can separate them.
Have you ever had that one special friend that you knew would be there for you through thick and thin? That special friend, who can read your thoughts, finish your sentences, and make you smile when you are feeling blue. A friend is someone who is honest and you can trust. A friend is someone who you hang out with, and someone you rely on. Friendship is being there for someone when they need you. That person for me is my best friend Katrina. She is the kindest, sweetest person I have ever known. She will do anything for anyone.

A good friend may not have all these traits. If someone is a gossip, you shouldn't get too close with him or her. If they are known for betrayal and being dishonest you should think about it and probably take one step away from them. According to the site “Being Friends,” friends should listen to each other, not put each other down to hurt one another, understand each others feelings, disagree without hurting each other, and be dependable and trustworthy. When finding friends you should look out for the good and the bad. See which traits are most important to you and make sure your friends have more good than bad traits. This will create compatible friends for you who hopefully remain with you for a lifetime!

Like Rock and Roll, true friendship will never die. True friendship withstands the test of time. It can be compared to a good song; I can listen to it over and over but never get tired of hearing it, and I can pause it, and pick up right where I left off. There is only one person in this entire world who I will never get tired of listening to or who I can go weeks without seeing and feel as if nothing has changed, and her name is Sara. We have known each other since kindergarten, and have been best friends since eighth grade. Why only eighth grade if I have known her since kindergarten?
