Cyberbullying has formed into a big issue since the invention of social media. Social media and text messaging are the two main reasons why cyberbullying occurs everyday. Cyberbullying is when a person is bullied over the internet and told harsh comments. This causes suicides and thoughts that can harm the person emotionally. Cyberbullying is harmful, dangerous, causes suicides, and needs to be prevented and stopped. The act of cyberbullying occurs when people make fake accounts about someone of use those accounts to comment something mean and hurtful that can hurt the person on the other side of the screen. There are many methods and ways to bully someone online and here are some examples, creating fake accounts and usernames, hacking other people's accounts to post mean content, posting hurtful comments and pictures to social media, and sharing inappropriate photos and information about someone. Statistics have shown that the majority of the victims are teens and kids with access to social media and messenger. First way to prevent it is to monitoring children and social media. First check their social media accounts from any fake followers or watch them to stop them from making the mistake of being the bully themselves. Another way is waiting till a certain age to let teens have a social media. Wait until they are at the responsible age because they can try and stop the bullying and not let it get to them. Teens and kids should also be educated about cyberbullying, the effects and consequences. Inform the kids about all the different cases of cyberbullying and present it to your kids to help prevent these cases from ever happening again. Teaching the youth about bullying and what can happen to the victims and how they possibly take their own life.
