This course is in its twilight, and I wanted to share some thoughts with you right before the screen goes down.
It can appear, and in fact it will to those of you who did not speak with me recently, that I have abandoned you in the last few weeks. Nothing can be further than the truth. Since week 4 I have been curbing my enthusiasm and participation in the threads, both academic and Larry David (i.e. incendiary) styles.
This is the first time that I teach a DuPont cohort. Earlier this semester I have been warned that some of these cohorts become aggressive, unsupportive and non-responsive, on the other hand I heard that in some rare cases these cohorts are far superior than any other we have in Drexel. It is my firm belief that you belong in the second group. From the start this cohort has been engaging and thoughtful. As I planed to take this class, I thought this course would be like all other general education courses. I believed that it would be of little use to me. However, after attending the first class, my view has changed completely. I applied each and every theory to my life.
School has been hectic in a good way. Its senior year, where there is a lot of pressure on what is my next step. I know for a fact that I want to go to college. I have my list of where I want to go, some of the colleges are University of Connecticut, Vanderbilt University, Quinnipiac University, Mount St. Mary College, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Baruch College, SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Cortland, High Point University. I am thinking of majoring in International Business and minoring in linguistics, or double majoring in International Business and International relations and minoring in linguistics. Let me know your opinion on what you think of my majors and schools and let me know if you have any suggestions.
Without a doubt the lessons and exercises on time management were the most meaningful to me. They brought insight into why I seemed to be constantly working yet still never really got anything I wanted to accomplish throughout the day finished. I realized the majority of the activities I had been spending the most time on didn’t reflect my values of hard work and self discipline and long term academic goals to be successful in college. This motivated to completely change the way I managed my time by effectively striking a balance between my maintenance, committed, and free time.
In conclusion I feel that I have gained knowledge that can only be obtained through hands on experience in the classroom. With this experience I changed my assumption about classroom management techniques and have a totally new outlook which will only aid me as a teacher. This will be of great help to me going forward but I feel as a teacher you must be constantly open to learning and improving
In previous years, the school did not have a well respected reputation before and after the moving into the new school in 2010. The experiences at the school however was one of many pillars that helped established my foundation in becoming an effective teacher thanks to the exceptional staff of Samuel Fels who not just fostered an academic environment but fostered an emotionally supportive environment. The experience from Fels made me an underdog during my collegiate career. However, there’s a grittiness that students in Fels would leave away from. Little did I know that it was that particular characteristic that allowed me to preserve during university’s most difficult times.

Every college student must be thinking and worried about his or her academic success and educational degree. San Jose Mercury News Editorial, authors of “Remedial costs are too high for CSU to bear” highlight that San Jose State University policy which took place in 2009 is about freshmen students who are required to take remedial classes since their math and/or English basic college-level are not good enough. To notice these students that they need help early, CSU created the Early Assessment Program. Even though, CSU created the voluntary Early Assessment Program which has an essay and two dozen questions that are included in standardized tests given to juniors, many students did not pass it. I think technology is a key component in the classroom, especially for our students to become prepared for the 21st century. In this course, I learned so much for my 2017-2018 4th graders. I have created four products to increase student engagement with the use of technology. Nearpod and Edpuzzle for two different reading lessons, a QR Code lesson for Social Studies, and a Flipped Classroom lesson for math. These products are interactive, exciting, and resourceful.
In the classroom, teachers are responsible for teaching the lesson they’ve planned for the day, grading papers and worksheets, and making sure students acquire the information needed. Flipped classroom is a new style of teaching that has been the source of much debate in college and high school courses. This new style is defined by watching lectures provided by the teacher the night before attending the class and allowing students to work on the assignment attached to the lecture in the actual classroom. According to Mary Beth Hertz, “teachers describe how students can work at their own pace, how they can review what they need when they need, and how the teachers are then freed-up to work one-on-one with students on the content they most need support with” (2012). Flipped classroom should be implemented in Central Methodist University’s writing courses because it allows students to have more interaction with the teacher, work at their own pace, and refresh their mind on important information that may have been forgotten.
My experience in Composition I was very good. The class’ atmosphere was welcoming, we used peer review effectively, and I got fairly good grades. I was slightly disappointed when I wasn't able to get into a class with the same professor as last semester. Although I did not get into the class that I was hoping to get into, I was prepared for the new experience. I also had my own set of goals and expectation. My goal in Comp II was to improve the presentation skills. getting good grade goal
Through school or even life in general, we never truly understand the purpose of what we do. Yes, we take a class to better educate ourselves but then we start to wonder if we will ever use what we learned. Thus far, this course has been different, we apply everything we have learned into our daily lives. A practicum is a real-life experience obtained through working in a health care facility while still being a student. (Makely, 2017). A practicum can range from volunteer work to internship. Through a practicum, the student can learn many different aspects of not only the work environment they want to get involved in but also what work may entail, how stressful it may be, and to see if that job is the best fit for that student. Through out the course of the past 5 days I learned a lot. I learned that the internet is not a place only meant to read about horrible news stories or read hate comments on social media or even maybe admire all the people you wish to be. I learned that it is a place where, if you dig deep enough, you can find a caring and helpful community. You can find a place where you can become what you want. I learned that when life doesn't go your way take actions so it does go your way. I learned that even when things seem useless or helpless, they aren't, because their is always a path. I learned to not sit around and wait for life to go by, but to take actions so I can live a life that I want to. I have finally started these actions.
In this course I think I should be getting an "exceeding expectations" and here is why. In this class we have had multiple projects, assignments, and in class presentations. As the course has progressed I have grown and learned how to use multiple applications like, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, and Tinker cad. Using all of these programs I learned how to use them at different points in time to make one big video.
...at previously, sometimes in the midst of a discussion, people forget that there are two sides of a story and not everyone has to agree to yours. What we learn from our books or our studies is not what is necessarily important. What we learn from our peers and our professors is what’s important. Learning is more than absorbing fact, it is acquiring understanding, and it is being passionate about the material you are given. Each piece that we have read in class, and each comment that we make impacts a person no matter how little it seems. The education systems focuses too much about effective methods of teaching and not enough about effective methods of learning. However, this course felt like we were learning something instead trying to finish the curriculum. As Albert Einstein once said, “education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think”.
