Imagine a world where the number of species has been greatly diminished, water sources that were once crystal blues are now brown and thick, and plant life has disappeared. This is not difficult for most people to visualize, but it is hard to stomach. Numerous people have contemplated this as a possible fate for our planet. One of those individuals was Theodor Geisel, Dr. Seuss, who based his work The Lorax, off of this concept. If we do not want this type of outcome to be our fortune then we need to put more efforts into conservation. Many people use this word without knowing what it really means or how to take action to increase its effectiveness.
When the average person is asked about what conservation is they have a simple idea that it is protecting something. In reality though it is so much more than that. Conservation is about not only protecting species and land, but also restoring and preserving it so future generations can experience the benefits and power that these great varieties of species and lands can bring. Conservation also means considering sustainability.
Protection, restoration, preservation, and sustainability are all words that get thrown around a great deal, and now it seems as if their meanings have become hollow. Sustainability is one term that most think they understand, but the truth is they associate it with the three Rs of reduce, reuse, and recycle; that is it end of story. Sustainability is tremendously more than that; it is a way a living so that you do not leave an excessive impact of waste and degradation on this earth, but instead you leave a footprint large enough for others to see and follow. If people can see what it truly means to be sustainable, and how easy it is to achieve ...

...es. I love to travel and visit new places and the heart of Africa would be a great place to help spread and implement conservation practices. Another reason I would like this jobs is because I love animals, and helping them because they cannot help themselves like humans can.
I currently lack the majority of the abilities need to perform this job since it is highly specialized. The few skills that I do have are being highly organized, being able to live in remote difficult conditions, and embracing the WWF’s fours values. If I was really dedicated to obtaining a job like this I would have to specialize in primatology, gain large amounts of experience in leading teams, and a having fluency in another language. At this point in my career I would be more suited to have a position as an intern or assistant to the person that would posses this particular job.
